Salt is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce, written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland, and starring Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt, accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. The official release date is July 23, 2010 by Columbia Pictures. Tom Cruise initially secured the lead but the script was rewritten for Jolie. Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. When she is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy, Salt goes on the run to clear her name and ultimately prove she is a patriot. Merkel ist sichtlich verärgert, dass da jemand so frech ist, diese alte, noch immer ungeklärte Geschichte um 100.000 verschwundene DM wieder aufzuwärmen, antwortet nur knapp und ignoriert die weiteren Nachfragen des Journalisten. Ganz großes Lob an den Journalisten (bei dem man die Berufsbezeichnung nicht in Anführungszeichen schreiben muss) - solch beißend sarkastisches Nachbohren ist Merkel sichtlich nicht gewohnt.
