Next month, the Marine Mammal Center in the Marin Headlands opens its doors to the public for the first time in four years. The Center treats sea lions, elephant seals, and other marine mammals that run into trouble along our coast. They swallow fishing lines, get hit by boat propellers and, increasingly, come down with a bacterial infection that scientists say they still don't understand.

A few weeks ago Bahar had work meetings in San Francisco, so I decided to tag along. I have never been to San Francisco and it is the tech world mecca. So I wanted to check it out, however not much was going on in the tech world during that time because everyone was at SXSW. So Bahar and I stayed at the Marriott on Fishermans Warf. We were shocked on how many people smoke in San Francisco. The hotel hallway smelled a mixture of skunk, cigarettes, Walking the San Francisco Bay Walking the San Francisco Bay 2 Tomorrow I will have the photo set of the Golden Gate Bridge and video of us walking across. Redesigning the Bay

The predictions for climate change all warn that San Francisco Bay waters will rise. The latest estimate is the bay will be about 5 feet higher by the end of this century, and 16 inches higher by 2050. If the water rises high enough, a lot of expensive Bay-front property could be inundated. What can we do about it? And how do we plan for that? That's the subject of an innovative design contest that launches this week.

More than 70 retired military ships are anchored northeast of San Francisco in Suisun Bay. Most of them have been there for decades and are leaching toxic substances into the water. While a few have historic value, the rest are in line for scrapping - a process that environmentalists hope to speed up with a new lawsuit.

Makohead Marine Production Sample SFBAYIMAGES.com

Makohead Marine Production Sample www.SFBAYIMAGES.com . This is some footage we produced for a documentary in the Gulf of the Farallones. We were looking for sharks, but found breaching whales, dolphin, lots of palegic birds, scientists, the continental shelf and the Farallon Islands. This is a short piece of footage we took directly off the camera without editing. It does have "cuts" where the camera is turned on and off. What we are trying to illustrate here is the nature of the raw assets using the makohead stabilizer. The horizon is stable, the shots are long and there is a lot to choose from. If you are familar with marine photography, you know that even the littlest wave, boat vibrations, camera operator "sea legs" and other problems on the open water usually creates editing challenges.A video of the Makohead itself follows this one. That video was captured with a hand held HDV camera using a hand-held gyro stabilizer. This footage is smaller then the broadcast window because it is set to broadcast HDV and the above it True HD.We are located in the San Francisco Bay area but are will to travel globally. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Excuse the blatant advertising here, but it was a very convienant way to display marine footage from various ways of capture.
