GAY Protest- Gran Hotel Costa Rica Discriminates! -X

GAY Protest- Gran Hotel Costa Rica Discriminates! -X

from recent posts tagged discrimination - blip.tv (beta) on May 07, 2009

GAY Protest held outside the entrance of the Gran Hotel Costa Rica and next to the National Theater. It appears GRAND Hotel Costa Rica may want to consider providing its Security Staff with Sensitivity Training, or perhaps a Review of the current Costa Rican LAWS on the Books regarding the discrimination of Gays. Basically, two lesbians accuse the Security Staff of the Gran Hotel Costa Rica for harassing and discriminating against them for kissing outside the hotel in the square. The kicker, apparently it wasn't even a 'making-out' type of kissing. How boring is that? Well these lesbians weren't going to take it, so they got their gay 'family' and friends to stage a protest outside the Gran Hotel. It was very nice to see a good turn-out and BEST of all, many 'younger' gay Tico's were present of show their SUPPORT. Now that's what I call a step in the right direction. San Jose Costa Rica Sabana Park -X

San Jose Costa Rica Sabana Park -X

from Rev Stuart on May 07, 2009
Duration: 132
La Sabana Park or Parque La Sabana is easily located on any map of San Jose. It is located at the western end of Paseo Colon. Back in the day this used to be San Jose's international airport. This is the perfect place to spend the afternoon and immerse yourself in Tico culture as this is the city's center for active sports and recreation. Here you'll find everything from jogging trails, soccer fields, basketball courts and even a few public tennis courts. All the facilities in La Sabana are open to the public. Parque La Sabana is where Tico families gather for picnics, kite flying, fishing and overall socializing with friends and family, and there's even an outdoor sculpture garden. This is just a GREAT place to experience local culture and maybe even a good reminder on how the simple pleasures in LIFE are often the BEST... there's not a PlayStation in site. Check out our video of La Sabana and if you got an hour or two we would recommend a stroll through the park. We would also recommend you leave this park before dusk and AVOID it all together during the night time hours when the sketchier characters of San Jose come out to play... and they don't seem interested in a pick-up game of soccer. San Jose Costa Rica Cafe Mundo Review -x

San Jose Costa Rica Cafe Mundo Review -x

from Rev Stuart on May 06, 2009
Duration: 114
What's a trip to San Jose without eating at Cafe Mundo? Cafe Mundo mixes creative cuisine with a casual ambiance. Wood tables and Art Deco wrought-iron chairs are spread throughout several rooms in what was once a former colonial mansion. Cafe Mundo serves everything from vegetable tempura, crab cakes, and chicken satay as well as traditional Costa Rican flavor such as fried plantain chips and fried yuca. There's also pasta and pizza (which we had and it was wonderful) and other, more serious main courses. One room in Cafe Mundo has a colorful mural done by Costa Rican artis Miguel Cassafont. This places draws an eclectic crowd of San Jose's gay, bohemian, theatre, arts and university crowds. Shark Finning- an INTERVIEW with PRETOMA - x

Shark Finning- an INTERVIEW with PRETOMA - x

from Rev Stuart on May 06, 2009

http://www.Pretoma.org Hey guys, we just want to get the word out about SHARK FINNING and Longline Fishing off the coast of Costa Rica. If you're like me, you may not have known a whole lot about shark finning and longline fishing and the IMPACT it has on the CIRCLE of LIFE. Although I'm not sure how you wouldn't care about SHARKS and Sea Turtles, technically regardless of what you think about these magnificent sea creatures, it's MUCH BIGGER than that... millions of sharks are killed each year solely for their fins. And the TRUTH is, it's an ASIAN thing. It's traditional to ENJOY shark fin soup for just about any IMPORTANT occasion and it is also a sign of STATUS in the Asian culture, which MEANS- supply and demand. That said, the food chain is severely effected by the killing of SHarks... and that's not to mention the affects of longline fishing which kills thousands of sea turtles each year. There are laws in place in Costa Rica to combat this problem, unfortunately they are NOT enforced. We need to get the word out. Check OUT his video to learn more on the Why, What, Where, When and How of shark finning. I had the opportunity to sit down with Randell Arauz, the president of Pretoma, the organization for the preservation of sea turtles and the voice of SHARKS everywhere. Please HELP spread the word. SToP shark finning and longline fishing. The WORLD will thank you for it............ and besides, it really does EFFECT you whether you know it or NOT. El Pueblo is a GREAT place to experience Costa Rican nightlife. This old Spanish village is a complex of souvenir shops, bars, clubs, and restaurants. El Pueblo is located just across the river to the north of town and the BEST way to get there is by taxi (and as always- if you're PARTYING, we always recommend using taxi's, regardless of your rental car situation. In El Pueblo, there's a bar or club for just about anyone's tastes. Dancing, conversation, drinking- you name it- it's in El Pueblo. San Jose Costa Rica PaPa Pez Restaurant REVIEW -x

Papa Pez Restaurant is located in El Pueblo- right in the front to be exact. We've eaten there a few times and the food is ALWAYS tasty and fairly inexpensive. This PLACE gets pretty crowded in the early evening and the atmosphere is quite festive, always a PLUS. After dining, we would HIGHLY recommend hanging OUT in El Pueblo and checking out some of the BARS and CLUBS... it gets VERY lively in El Pueblo at night and there's something for just about any taste. Even 2 for 1 tequila shots if you're so inclined. So, check out Papa Pez for drinks and/or dinner and we're pretty sure you won't be disappointed. Check out the pics of the FOOD, makes my mouth water. Pura Vida. For more helpful travel information on Costa Rica make sure you check out our website and our blog. San Jose Costa Rica Simon Bolivar Zoo - CR

San Jose Costa Rica Simon Bolivar Zoo - CR

from Rev Stuart on April 27, 2009
Duration: 211
Back in the day, the Simon Bolivar Zoo suffered from neglect and despair and one couldn't stroll around the grounds without getting somewhat depressed watching the wildlife that once roamed free- confined to fairly dismal quarters. Now, the zoo isn't quite so bad, although a few cages could use some upgrades and renovations. If you want to see all the Costa Rica wildlife in one place then you could spend an hour or two here, that said, we would recommend heading out to the forests and jungles and attempting to spot animals in their natural habitats. This zoo is basically for the locals but check out our video and we'll let you decide if it's worth your time to visit the Simon Bolivar Zoo in downtown San Jose Costa Rica. Colours Oasis Resort San Jose Costa Rica REVIEW - gay

from Rev Stuart on April 16, 2009

Colours Oasis is a GAY but very 'Straight-friendly' resort in San Jose Costa Rica. Located in the Barrio Rohrmoser, which is just a short cab ride to the middle of downtown San Jose where all the major attractions are located: museums, markets, the National Theatre, shopping, as well as the gay bars like La Avispa, Club Oh, Pucho's, and Bochinche. Gay friendly restaurants such as Cafe Mundo are within walking distance, and gay saunas are also in close proximity. You'll want to stay at least 2-3 nights at Colours Oasis to take in all the hotel has to offer, such as the solar heated pool, secluded jacuzzi, a spacious sun bathing terrace, exercise room that doubles as a computer room, a beautiful patio garden complete with exotic birds, and a Great bar where everyone seems to meet for Happy Hour. Check out this GAY Hotel review from D'Angelo and michael alan from Travel Costa Rica NOW and see the many reasons the gay traveler as well as the 'cooler' straight travelers would be making a BIG mistake if they didn't spend a few nights at the Colours Oasis Resort. Baldi Hot Springs in La Fortuna, Costa Rica - Arenal volcano area

from Rev Stuart on April 16, 2009

If you're visiting the La Fortuna/Areanl area, the HOT SPRINGS is a must Do. Baldi Hot Springs is one of the top 2 hot springs in the La Fortuna area, with the other one being the world famous Tabacon Hot Springs. Baldi Hot Springs is cheaper than Tabacon and draws a younger crowd, but has a more Disney-esque feel to it. But you won't be disappointed, no one ever is. So after a day of white-water rafting, waterfall repelling, zip-lining, nature hiking, ATV'ing, bike riding or whatever else you may get into in La Fortuna, the hot springs is a great way to relax. In this video, D'Angelo takes you on a little tour of Baldi Hot Springs, so you can see what it's like. I would also encourage you to visit my blog where I compare the two: http://doingcostarica.blogspot.com/2009/03/tabacon-vs-baldi-hot-springs-truth.html Check out a tour around Baldi Hot Springs.
