MYANMAR: VISIONTRUST COMMITS TO HELPING CHILDREN RECENTLY ORPHANED VisionTrust Founder and CEO, Dr. Ernie Taylor, recently returned from an orphan crisis assessment trip to Myanmar. The area affected by Cyclone Nargis in May 2008 has killed more than 84,537 people with another 53,836 still missing. Throughout the region, shelter, food and water are scarce; the necessities of life which were swept away are still needed. The survivors of the cyclone must now deal with flooding due to the monsoon season which brings daily downpours of rain. Dr. Taylor went to Myanmar (formerly Burma) to help the VisionTrust staff develop a strategic plan in response to the thousands of newly orphaned children in the Delta region. He was prevented by the government from traveling into the devastated areas. Therefore, several church pastors and community leaders from the Delta region, that VisionTrust has been giving relief supplies to since early May, met him in the city of Yangon. While in Yangon, Dr. Taylor also met with a friend from UNESCO. He learned that the water wells are contaminated by sea water and dead animals. The rice paddies have a residue of salt water that inundated the land. The 200 km/h winds leveled close to 90% of the buildings. The roads were washed away and bridges are now broken and missing. The government is not allowing children to move outside the affected region and all cyclone refugees have been ordered back to their hometowns. Dr. Taylor saw pictures of children meeting in schools that were wrecked by the cyclone. These children are required to sit in school rooms with missing walls and roofs. In response, VisionTrust has placed 598 children who need immediate help and protection into six orphanages. Most of these children are newly orphaned as a result of the cyclone. Their parents are either dead or missing. Dr. Taylor received videos and stories of death, destruction and survival. He learned that the government has stopped the local churches from doing relief work. People have been forced to evacuate the safety of churches and shelters and return to their devastated villages. Most of these people are simple rice farmers who have lost their homes and livestock. VisionTrust needs immediate help to secure additional financial resources to care for the newly orphaned and displaced children and to provide for their long term care. Please consider helping in the following ways: • Donate to the “Care Center Fund”: This fund has been created to provide immediate funds for the care of the children in our six orphanages. • Sponsor Children: All 598 children need to be sponsored to provide for their education, physical and medical needs and for their ongoing care. Each sponsorship is $35 per month. VisionTrust’s mission is to develop orphaned and neglected children into mature Christians equipped to live in their own culture. This is accomplished by enabling Christian nationals to meet the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of these children. Life is an interesting property. It is or it is not. Life comes and instinctively we know how to live. We may not have all of the knowledge of how we live but life brings with it a certain level of understanding. So it is with Life in Christ. There is little need for  step by step instruction on living for with Life we have basic understanding. For that which we must grow in we have the Word of Christ which is Spirit, or the force, power, and understanding of Life, or how we live the Life. Because the Word is Spirit, teachings that give our rational mind step by step instructions have little power and few can live and prosper by them. Some take in such instruction through their Spirit man and grasp the power of faith, while others try to live out the power and fullness of a spiritual life through principles given to the flesh. The Life we live in Christ is a Spirit life and the power of this life works from the Spirit to the flesh, not the other way. When we take the Word of God into our Spirit, then we will know faith, power, and all that we have in Christ for the Word of God is not how to, but rather you are! The hardest thing for most Believers that have been influenced by the Law is to cast off all of the Law and its influence. The Law seems to give a feeling of belonging, acceptance, and even some confidence. (Though it is only confidence in the flesh and such confidence also brings condemnation.) Those that still follow any aspect of the Law in their religion are very demanding of those that do not! Yet the Law does not bring blessing and those that follow the Law cannot share in the inheritance. Coming under the influence of the Law will only block us in receiving what can only come by faith! Some believe only on the working of the blood of Christ and some seem to focus more on the blessings that we have from the body of Christ. If we will believe on the total work of Christ, in His flesh and blood, then we will know the full and balanced life that Christ came to give! Everything that man needs is given to us in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of God. When we believe on Christ then all that He has worked for us is ours to have, live, and enjoy. In Christ there is forgiveness of sins as well as healing and blessing. To live in forgiveness alone is to live  in only part of Christ s sacrifice. In the blood of Christ we have forgiveness of sins and consequently peace with God. In the body, or flesh of Christ we have healing, (physical, mental, and emotional), and we have prosperity. Christ asks us to believe on him in His entirety; in His flesh and His blood.
