S60v3 Videos

OctroTalk is a new freeware application for S60v3, Windows Mobile, and Windows PCs that allows you to connect to Jabber and SIP based services. The killer feature, though, is the video calling/IM, which works between devices, and over any EDGE, 3G, or WiFi connection. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Episode 25 of Driving with the Guru is upon us and features a shortened format (lack of planning on my part, sadly) but plenty of topics. I've got a quick look at three different Bluetooth headsets, as well as a peek at the new Google Search for S60v3 handsets.

Episode 18 of Driving With The Guru features yet another experimental format, as well as a device in my glovebox and an exclusive preview of the Maps application from the new OS2008 on my Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. Information on a few new site updates coming, as well.

You didn't think I'd go all the way to London and NOT do a Driving with the Guru, did you?! Of course not, so here it is. We're on our way to the Ministry of Sound in London for the Nokia: Go Play event. As always, I have a few...toys....in my glovebox, and I also have a cab full of fellow bloggers/Nokians/Frank. I also, at the advice of many readers, edited this on my PC using some new software that I'm trying to figure out, there's so many options in there, be sure to watch for big improvements in the video. It also helped with the size, obviously.

This is the first episode of Driving with the Guru with the new format. As you can see, the camera shaking has been eliminated, and I've added a new segment called "What's in my glovebox?" This segment won't necessarily be in EVERY episode, but will be any time that I have any device or accessory to show off. Click through to watch, and stay tuned for the next episode soon! I know I just did an iPhone DWTG, but it was pointed out to me that I hadn't even touched or seen one, and I was saying it's not that cool. So I played with one. I spent 20 minutes with one at an AT&T store, and you'll have to watch the video to see what I thought. A little housekeeping: I've ditched Viddler for my DWTG videos. At least with Blip, I can *sorta* upload from the N800. And Blip gives me this handy little feed, so that you guys can subscribe on your Nokia Podcasting App. Yeah, that's right, cool, huh? And the best part? It's playable on any S60v3 device! Yeah, uh-huh. Try it. Here's the link.Right now, you're just going to get all my videos. Sorry. I'm experimenting with Blip to see if I can setup 2 different feeds based on tags, but who knows. In the meantime, enjoy!

I finally got around to finalizing the lead-in for this, and tossed my logo on to the end, and I'm pretty satisfied. Now the next thing is to get some real content in here. What would you guys like to see in these? Also, next time I think I'm going to give Viddler a go. If you're not familiar, check them out at Viddler.com. I like that anyone can add a tag or comment - searchable - to any video. Pretty neat.

I actually recorded this a while back, but only just got around to editing it. Basically, it shows off the 2 biggest reasons I LOVE the 3.5mm jack built-into the Nokia N95. It's just awesome. I know there's a ton of newbies to the S60 world out there, so I put together this quick video for how to sync your S60 device with Nokia's PC Suite (which you can download for FREE here). Once you install PC Suite, just watch the video and follow the directions. It's really easy. I used Bluetooth in the video because that's what I use on my computer. You can pick up a USB Bluetooth dongle at CompUSA or Fry's for under $20, just make sure you get one that's "2.0 + EDR." You could also use the USB cable that came with your S60 phone. Just plug it in to a USB port on your computer and then plug it into your phone. When it asks what type of connection, choose "PC Suite" and you're good to go. So me and my roommate were setting up the livingroom the other day, complete with his dream of a 100in. screen using the projector, and I got to thinking...So I plugged my N95 into it and hit record on the N73. You're seeing the results above. 94 inches of N95 goodness. Since then , I have plugged in numerous times, it's so much more fun to use your phone on the wall than on the screen.

When I switched the Driving with the Guru from the N73 to the N95, there were several comments regarding the video quality, and how many thought there would be more improvement, so I made this video. I recorded it at the exact same time with both, so any differences are purely the devices. I was literally holding them right next to each other (that's why you can hear the N73 "beep" in the N95's video.
