Internet entrepreneur Ryan Carson braved yellow room lighting, hotel muzac and the conference end-of-break bell to talk to Spot On about social media and why marketing strategy is moving away from branding and control and towards conversation and empowerment. We were worried that he would feel a bit lost without his trademark hat. However, he really looked the part for his appearance at SUBMIT 2009 in Dubai, donning United Arab Emirates national dress for his conference presentation! On the road to ruin

On the road to ruin

from Vimeo / Recent Public Videos on January 24, 2008

On the road to ruin from TheBrigadier on Vimeo. Here's a video I cut together for an intro to a website for some company that makes motor bikes. I composed the music in Garageband with an M-audio O2 8. Unfortunately the website programmers stretched the video beyond it's native resolution and used too much compression. Cast: TheBrigadier

Episode 18 -- Selling a Business Via Blog

Episode 18 -- Selling a Business Via Blog

from talking communications with farrell kramer on January 22, 2007
Duration: 1280
The sale of a business is something that is usually done in private, with communications typically beginning when the transaction is ready to be announced. With the advent and advances of Web 2.0, however, there's ample room to experiment with new approaches. Ryan Carson, Director of Carson Systems, is doing just that. Ryan's company is in the midst of selling DropSend, a Web application that allows individuals and businesses to send large files via e-mail. To communicate that fact, Ryan decided to cover the sale via blog, posting on everything from the sale announcement to financial/operating metrics and negotiations. As my first guest of 2007, Ryan discusses just why he decided to provide this blog's-eye-view of the sale process and how it has fared. Episode 18 -- Selling a Business Via Blog provides a fascinating look at a new, very transparent approach to financial communications. Enjoy the podcast! Links: Ryan first began posting about the DropSend sale on his Bare Naked App blog and then moved the discussion to a new blog, Carsonified!. I also promised a link to the Social Media 2007 conference, where I'll be speaking on Jan. 31 on the topic, POD-ERGIZE Your PR!
