Lors d'un débat organisé par l'association Dauphine Discussion Débat le 6 mai 2008 à l'université Paris Dauphine, M Villepin s'en prend à la presse, notamment aux relations ambigües ( consanguines ) entre la presse et la politique. Il dénonce l'esprit de cours qui règne et qui représente une véritable vérole . Selon lui, dans certain cas l'époque impériale, à bien des égards, paraissait beaucoup plus libre que parfois la lecture des quotidiens nationaux. . Il appelle à un retour à l'imagination, à la critique. Aujourd'hui la presse est comparale à de la pâtée pour chat selon ses propres mots. Il regrette aussi l'appropriation de ces médias par de grands groupes industriels. Au cours d'un interview avec Marc Chesney (économiste à l'Université de Zürich, ancien professeur à HEC) sur les étranges opérations boursières effectuées les jours précédant le 11/9, l'animateur radio sur RMC Jean-Jacques Bourdin affirme qu'il trouve cela vraiment troublant. Lors de cet interview datant du 11 Septembre 2007, M. Mark Charmer talks with Doris Moller about the challenges of running infrastructure projects in areas such as water and sanitation in Central and Eastern Europe. Women in Europe for a Common Future today has six projects in the Akvo system and they all need funding - that's just over 100,000 worth of projects.We talk about the dilemma that Akvo will help drive funding by making project progress visible but that can't happen until the first WECF Akvo projects get funded so her team can beging describing progress online.We talk about her perceptions of Akvo and the challenges ahead, plus some endorsement of our approach.As Doris puts it, "[Akvo] fits to my view of connecting experience in the field to high end lobbying and political work by bringing the actual reality facing our country partners closer to the donors and the people who are interested in it - and closer to people who live [in the communities themselves]." Thomas Bjelkeman-Pettersson introduces Akvo's new features for Spring 2009 at our February 2009 partner meeting, held at the International Water House in the Hague, Netherlands. The discussion covers the 'money box', and how donor-to-project partner payment systems are being developed. He showcases our brand new widget tools, which from March will allow any partner to feature projects or updates directly on their own website automatically. Here I talk with Jeroen, Akvo chairman and managing director of The Netherlands Water Partnership. I really like Delft (Jeroen's great too!) - it's a beautiful car city for a start (exhibit A). But we needed to leave. The new Akvo office is in the entrance lobby of The International Water House in the Hague, the centre of Dutch government. This will probably be a good move over time as our original home, UNESCO-IHE, is mainly an acadeemic instition. My hunch is that being near government will keep us quite driven. Here I talk to Jeroen about the decision to be here, and about the other institions we're sharing space with (although right now we're to the side of reception on our own - feel free to come by). But that works fine.
