An hour or so of a day at a simple cigar shop in my hometown. Bumped into an old smoking patron who knows a lot of my smoking friends, who started playing catch-up since the last time we saw each other a few years ago. Tried the cigar Rockey Patel Summer collection 2008 panacera - limited. This is the first of an exclusive, limited edition line of "distinctive, seasonal cigars." This is claimed to be a rich, medium to full-bodied smoke, I found it a less than expected experience. It had hints of fresh spice and peppery flavor, but very mundane to my pallet. Pre-Light: Targets Wrapper smelled of modest tobacco nuances with a distinct taste of yesteryear. The cigar was slightly oily, with a soft and subtle taste and draw which reminded me of cigars that had AGE on them (fermented). A predominant tobacco flavor existed for about ten minutes a very nice hint of a woody flavor moved in but never did take over as the main flavor it had a slight dried fruit flavor who also wavered as well. It all was drowned out about 1/3 to 1/2 of the cigar with a paler than expected smoking experience. It was okay, but nothing distinctive, with the exception of the pre-light and initial light. If you are a chewer rather than a smoker, this may just be the ticket for a nice big taste, with a hint of sweetness stick. While the press release said this was a full bodied cigar it did not come across as one. It was in my opinion a medium bodied cigar at it's VERY best - which lasted about 5-10 minutes. I enjoyed the discussions in the smoke shop more than this cigar, which is usually opposite on what I prefer in a smoking experience. My "Ideal Smoke" would keep more of my attention on the smoking experience of the taste of the cigar.
