This episode was recorded about 3 weeks ago as we took our annual summer break. But we're back! This episode was loaded with great music and we had alot of fun, although we had to work through a major technical failure and a nasty ass heat wave when we recorded this episode. It's been almost a month since the entire HH crew got together for an episode so we were amp'd up and ready to go. We got things started by congratulating JMack on his newest child, and spoke about every father's worries when their child is first born. From there we got into some hip-hop talk with Nonseq from the production team Tin Men whose track "Video Chick" received the most votes from Episode #61. Nonseq filled us in on the hip-hop scene in North Carolina, and how their production team goes about deciding what MC's they want to work with. Next, Phro gave us the run down on his vacation to Tampa, FL and their 24/7 2-for-1 drink specials. After the break we got into some conversation about Busta Rhymes recent Hot 97 interview, which lead us into a conversation about Aftermath Records and their roster's bulked up appearance. From there we discussed why DJ's get so much love, re-lived some drunk moments, gave our thoughts on Stacy Dash's KING Magazine cover, and a lot more. As always, the music featured in Episode #63 is pure flames. We featured 5 new joints, which are be up for voting, and a couple of HH throwback tracks.

The Full 'What is INDIE' Interview," Montreal recording artist and producer Tim Rideout shares his philosophies on indie culture, the music business, record deals and musical perception. He also has a warning for independent artists who come across a little too hip for the room.Culling unseen footage from Dave Cool s hit documentary "What is INDIE?" the slick-looking fourteen minute doc argues that proponents of the traditional indie movement are destined for mediocrity if they can t break free of the traditional dogma and philosophy often associated with the movement. The buzz word these days is indie-this and major-that, Rideout explains. The indie versus major stereotype is practically a religion for many artists managing their own careers. Independent artists don t seem to realize that the lines have blurred between these two camps, and they are hurting themselves by holding onto these outmoded values. Blindly refusing to consider record deals or acknowledgement of one s art as a commercial product are poison to the financial success of any artist. He even goes so far as to suggest artists pick up a copy of a Britney Spears album the antithesis of the indie movement. We need to get over ourselves and stop being so cool and so indie. Can t we take part of a mega-selling pop star s business success, analyze it and apply it to our own microcosm? Produced by Tim's own film production company FibiiFilms and using interview clips not seen in the original "What is INDIE?" documentary, the film gets Rideout's points across and then some. I totally agree with the questions posed in Dave Cool s film but I wanted to take things a bit further, he says and does in interesting and entertaining fashion. The Maritime native s acerbic wit and often foul mouth are guaranteed to entertain, inform and provoke.
