Nov. 6: O Captain! My Captain! This week, Adam and Matty make music from the heart and navigate the blackboard jungle as they stand and deliver their latest edition of Filmspotting featuring a discussion of the Sundance sensation, "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire," starring Paula Patton as a Harlem high school teacher trying to save Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe’s teenaged Precious from an abusive mother -- played to the hilt by comedienne Mo'Nique. The lads also ask all dangerous minds to lean on them and trust their takes on 1985’s "When Father Was Away on Business," the first installment of the Filmspotting Golden Palm Marathon. Then, in honor of Mo’Nique’s devastating performance, the boys close out Mr. Holland’s Opus by listing their Top 5 Bad Screen Parents. Good-bye, Mr. Chips! Also on the show: Listener Feedback, music by The Almighty Defenders and Massacre Theatre -- presented by Pixar Talk. This week's winner will get the Pixar DVD of their choice. http://www.sogoodreviews.com presents: PLEASE NOTE: PLOT DESCRIPTION HERE: When we last left Simon Qing, he had just murdered Wu Da Lang (Ng Chi Hung) in order to add Lotus (AV star Hayakawa Serina) to his growing harem. But he starts to stray again after he meets Pinky (AV star Uehara Kaera), who's the spitting image of his first love Violetta. Adding Pinky to his collection of wives means doing away with his own friend, but Simon is willing to commit more murders to serve his unchecked desires. However, there are consequences for his continuing corruption - Wu Da Lang's brother Wu Song (Wu Qing Zhe) seeks revenge, and may even have an ally in his brother's former wife Lotus. To stop Wu Song, Simon sends family maid Plum (Winnie Leung), but constant philandering has started to anger his wives, especially first wife Moon (AV star Wakana Hikaru). With his enemies growing in number, Simon's desires shift once more, to loyal and comely Plum... AGP#021 - The ANN Preview Guide
from Ani-Gamers Podcast on October 15, 2009
Duration: 0

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Zac Bertschy (www.animenewsnetwork.com), Sean Russell (www.anime3000.com) Topic: The Anime News Network's editorial choice to cover fansubbed anime in their Fall Preview Guide To wash down our long discussion of digital distribution last episode, this time we've got an interview with Zac Bertschy, Executive Editor at the Anime News Network, about a related topic: fansubs. Specifically, my questions revolved around ANN's choice to cover anime that has not been licensed or legally released in America in their Preview Guide a decision which necessitates the use by ANN's paid writers of illegally distributed fansubs. Sean Russell of Anime 3000 kindly recorded the discussion and contributed some of his own thoughts as well. If you've got an opinion on the issue, don't be afraid to let us know in the comments section or through email. Next episode I'll probably post something that I recorded at New York Anime Festival: either the Yoshiyuki Tomino Question & Answer session or a brief podcast episode with Erin and Noah of the Ninja Consultant Podcast (www.ninjaconsultant.com). Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, and more can be found at podcast.anigamers.com.
