Come Together, Right Now, over DMCA
from YouTube :: Videos by renetto July 23, 2008
This is a link the the EFF.org web site and some helpful questions and answers about "Fair Use". http://w2.eff.org/IP/eff_fair_use_faq.php Please keep watching and please get involved. Many of us will be telling you how to do that in a few days. Thank you so much... paul About EFF From the Internet to the iPod, technologies are transforming our society and empowering us as speakers, citizens, creators, and consumers. When our freedoms in the networked world come under attack, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the first line of defense. EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990 — well before the Internet was on most people's radar — and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today. From the beginning, EFF has championed the public interest in every critical battle affecting digital rights. Blending the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists, EFF achieves significant victories on behalf of consumers and the general public. EFF fights for freedom primarily in the courts, bringing and defending lawsuits even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations. By mobilizing more than 50,000 concerned citizens through our Action Center, EFF beats back bad legislation. In addition to advising policymakers, EFF educates the press and public. EFF is a donor-funded nonprofit and depends on your support to continue successfully defending your digital rights. Litigation is particularly expensive; because two-thirds of our budget comes from individual donors, every contribution is critical to helping EFF fight —and win—more cases. Fred, The Most Over Rated Channel on YouTube.
from Most Discussed June 30, 2008
This is a video about YouTube featuring the same garbage on the front page, such as Fred, who is already on the top of the most subscribed of all time. As if Fred doesn't have enough subscribers, he has over 180,000! wtf YOUTUBE!? FEATURE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE GOOD AND NEED SOME EXPOSURE I personally think that Fred is over rated and his videos aren't even funny. Not only that, but most of the channels on the top subscribed SUCK. Such as sxephil, smosh, athenewins, chris crocker, boheme, and MORE. Their videos are MEDIOCRE at best, and I think there are HUNDREDS of other users who deserve more exposure and recognition than these big time users who don't appreciate their fans. Hear me out in this video, its a little longer than most people's short attention span, but its definitely worth it. Music used with permission by: http://www.myspace.com/darknessheraldofblacknes Also, if you feel like losing your braincells, watch Fred. http://www.youtube.com/user/Fred

DMCA Class Action Law Suit? Union? Revolution?
from YouTube :: Videos by renetto June 27, 2008
It may be time for a Class Action Law Suit. The DMCA and even some of the policies of YouTube it's self, threatens the very future of online communication. With all of the emphases being placed on entertainment, from YouTube and others, the real revolution may be lost. In time, history may view this as a missed opportunity for real people who share their real lives with others around the world to stand up and fight for the right to BROADCAST OURSELVES, and everything that goes with it. If you haven't seen the video I posted about year and half ago called "One Tube, One World, One Day" please click on this link and give it a look... thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-maqdkHNbE Author: renetto Keywords: renetto dmca class action law suit youtube wu tang clan ash tour fred sxephil smosh network whatthebuckshow community Added: June 26, 2008

Feeding Roadkill with FRED
from YouTube :: Videos by renetto June 22, 2008
It was our great pleasure to hang out with my children's favorite YouTuber, Fred, on our most recent vacation. On our way up the California coast together, we made this video while being attacked by the future roadkill of the beautifully scenic pacific coast highway. By accident, we mortally wounded 3 of the little ground squirrels while backing out of the parking lot... this video is a tribute to their memory. Special thanks to Fred for all his help with the editing and special vocal effects. He is a remarkably gifted young man. DMCA Nazis can kiss my A55
from Most Discussed June 05, 2008
What do you think about the DMCA and the way YouTube is handling this problem? Does YouTube need to suspend user channels for life? Is that what the copyright holders are asking from YouTube? Does the YouTube policy do anything to help deal with the real problems concerning copyright infringement? Is this the best that YouTube can do to protect themselves, their users and the copyright holders concerns? Does YouTube even give a shit? I would love to hear your thoughts... YouTube is watching... NPR is watching... The World is watching... Let your voice be heard Like I said... people are watching... check this out. UPDATE!!! 6/6/08 A note to the You Tube community from Dan Gediman, Executive Director, This I Believe, Inc.: Many of you may know of the recent issue over videos made by Paul Robinett (aka Renetto) that consisted of him reading, in their entirety, essays from the This I Believe series that we produce for public radio. This I Believe is an international project engaging people in writing, sharing, and discussing the core values that guide their daily lives. These short statements of belief, written by people from all walks of life, are published on our website at http://www.thisibelieve.org/ as well as in regular broadcasts on public radio. The project is based on a popular 1950s radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow. When we learned about these videos, which were made without our permission, we were understandably concerned. We approached Mr. Robinett, informed him that the works in question were protected by copyright, and asked him to take them down, which he did promptly when asked. I want to stress that we took this action not motivated in any way by censorship. We fully support freedom of expression. We were trying to protect the copyrights of the essayists who wrote the words that Mr. Robinett was reading verbatim. When these writers granted rights to us, they did so with the understanding that they would be used for very specific purposes, such as broadcast on public radio and being included in a book. For this reason, we had no choice but to ask that the videos be removed. Since that time, we have been in contact with one of the essayists in question, Phyllis Allen, who has given her permission to Mr. Robinett to re-post his video of her essay. Given this fact, we are also granting permission for Mr. Robinett to do so, provided that proper copyright attribution is included and that he does not personally profit financially from the essayist's work. In the coming days, we hope to contact all the other essayists in question to see if they would allow permission for this usage as well. We are not at all opposed to anyone who wishes to make similar videos of their favorite This I Believe essay. We simply ask that they contact us first to receive permission and proper copyright attribution from us and the individual essayist. You can reach us at http://www.thisibelieve.org/contact.html. And if you would like to submit your own essay to the This I Believe project, please visit http://www.thisibelieve.org/agree.html. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Good Vs Evil and our Culture of Fear.
from YouTube :: Videos by renetto June 02, 2008
This is my last video in the series "This I Believe". I hope you've enjoyed watching them as much as I have enjoyed making them. I'm sorry if their's been any confusion about the purpose of me doing these videos in the way that I've done them... but in time I believe that wiser minds will prevail. My wife introduced me to this series on CD after checking it out at our local library a few months ago... I've been wanting to share some of them with you ever since. Listening to the essays challenged me in a way that I hope you've been challenged and stirred me to action... as I hope it will you as well. A Game of Cards This I Believe - An Essay by Norman Cousins (1951) This series of videos is produced to stimulate your minds and hearts and ask you the viewer... what do you believe. Others have taken the risk and exposed their innermost personal beliefs and weather you agree or disagree... at least I hope it's made you think. now it's your turn... pick up a pen and paper... or god forbid... a video camera and share with us the collective wisdom of your life experience and how that has shaped your own... "This I Believe" Norman Cousins was editor of The Saturday Review for 35 years. A noted author, he detailed his fight against two life-threatening diseases in Anatomy of An Illness and The Healing Heart. In addition to his literary career, he was an ardent critic of the nuclear arms race and the Vietnam War. In 1951, radio pioneer Edward R. Murrow began the This I Believe project to engage Americans and encourage them to communicate openly about the beliefs and values that guide them through life. In 2005, independent producers Jay Allison and Dan Gediman revived the series in an effort to encourage people to develop respect for beliefs different from their own.
