This is a tutorial on how to Create Custom FirmWare for your iPod Touch 2G for JailBreaking. Steps: I: Copy or Cut the iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 firmware to the "Core" file. II: Rename the Restore file to "OriginalFW". III: Run "redsn0w lite" and choose 1. IV: Continue with it until it starts Hashing the "OriginalFW". V: When done, in the "core" file you will now not only see "OriginalFW", but also "JailbrokenFW". VI: Move to next Step

In this video, I discuss the iPhone and iPod Touch (redsn0w) jailbreaks. Not much has changed on the iPhone side of things and this is mostly why I chose not to the do a walkthrough like I did for iPhone 2.2. The 2nd gen iPod touch however, has recently been jailbroken using an unsupported (read: you can brick your iPod) version of redsn0w. You can check out the details at http://redsn0w.com. Remember this method is not supported and could render your device useless. I've jailbroken my iPhone 2.2.1 and the process was seamless. I use 10.5.6 of Mac OS X and I have a USB hub so I didn't experience of the DFU issue. Please read http://blog.iphone-dev.org for detailed instructions what you should do given your issue.
