Meyvn combines stunning musicianship with memorable hooks and unconventional ideas to create an original sound that has been capturing the attention of metalheads and music lovers everywhere. The band has been winning over fans at their electrifying shows all over Texas and is steadily becoming a "must see" act wherever they play. The band started in the summer of 2003 when guitarist Drew Creel and keyboardist Charles Shultz met drummer Brad Olson and started writing material together. They produced a three song demo called "Introduction" (which contained instrumental versions of Revolution, Cadence, and Last Rites) and began hunting for more band members. They quickly found bassist Ken Liao and vocalist Richard Clark but the guys ended up parting ways with Charles. Thus the first lineup was formed, and the band began working on more songs. By the summer of 2004 the first EP "Last Rites" was completed and the band began playing shows all over Texas. In March of 2005 guitarist Jon Simpson joined the band, bringing a whole new level of power and depth to the band's sound. Over the rest of the year the band built up quite a following at their live shows and earned several awards, including "Best Austin Band Overall" in the Edge Magazine's Best of Austin 2005 poll and "#4 Best Metal Band" in the Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin 2005 poll. Towards the end of 2005 Meyvn began work on recording their first full-length album "Splintered Skies", and in March of 2006 they released it at the Heart of Texas Quadruple Bypass Festival. The album caught the attention of several record labels and in June of 2006 Meyvn signed with KillZone Records for one album. "Splintered Skies" was re-released in September with a bonus track and extra artwork for worldwide distribution, and the critics loved it! Near the end of 2006, Meyvn parted ways with Brad Olson and brought onboard drummer extraordinaire Reuben Posey. Reuben brought some new ideas and inspiration to the table and the guys began writing new material for a followup to "Splintered Skies". Later in the year Meyvn performed at the Texas Madfest in July and the prestigious ProgPower Europe festival in October! Fueled by high-octane riffs and boozy bad-boy lyrics howled by Lee "Bon"Scott, Adrenaline Factor’s self titled debut is a tire-screeching soundtrack for cruising and carousing. Songs like “Wrong Number” and “Boozin’ Susan” ratchet up the voltage of AC/DC while “Seven Beer Bitch” echoes with a Van Halen-esque guitar shuffle. “No Warning” and “Hook Slide” feature slippery bottleneck blues that recall faint strains of Led Zeppelin and “Bad Habit” launches into mid-song whiplash thrash. Flatfoot56 is made up of three brothers (Tobin, Justin and Kyle Bawinkel) and a terrific piper friend, Josh Robieson. Action is the name of the game with Flatfoot. These guys love it when the crowd is perspiring as much as they are at the end of the show. The incredible distribution of Red, Sony BMG gives our fans more opportunity to get Flatfoots melodious bagpipe and mandolin music into their hands. Each of them from an early age have independently studied music composition, taken voice and instrument lessons, and participated in solo competitions and writing workshops. This strong and diverse musical background serves as the foundation for One Trick Monkey to create music that is outside of conventional classifications and exists in a genre all of its own. Combining thought-provoking lyrics with powerful vocals, thick illustrious guitar melodies, and backed by a rhythm section that is both hard-hitting and funky, One Trick Monkey forges a sound that is unique, yet familiar to audiences across Texas. Since the independent release of their debut album "Unleashed" in February of 2007, One Trick Monkey has been chalking up stage experience at premier clubs such as Austin's Parish Room, Houston's Fitzgerald's and Dallas's Liquid Lounge. myspace.com/hwcrucifixers Austin TX, summer of 2006: Guitarist PK Ripper and singer Pablo Diablo (Black Novas) set out to create the ultimate Rock n’ Roll band. The band "Die Cobra" was founded and created with a revolving door of musicians. PK decided that an addition of another guitarist was absolutely necessary to add to the ensemble in order to fill out the gaps and bring about a bigger and fuller sound to the live show. Mario Alvarez was added to make room for more brutal possibilities, without disregard to the true reason and purpose of their existence, which was Rock n’ Roll. On March 16th 2007, the group fired bassist Mark Warren. Mid April 2007, Singer Pablo Diablo moved from Austin to Houston. August 3rd 2007, drummer Mark Toohey stepped down as drummer and this would be the final nail in the coffin for Die Cobra. Not willing to give up just yet, PK used the material he had written for Die Cobra towards a new and more solid project. Jason Westbrook was then brought aboard for his devastating low end bass skills and Mario and PK were still spitting venom from their guitars. Sparing no time, the three set out to record a demo at The Bubble in Austin Texas. PK and Bubble engineer Jason Buntz set the dates to record for Sept 1st 2007 through Sept 3rd 2007. With a little less than a month to record and no drummer, PK hired jazz/rock legend Mike Fonseca for session work to finish the demo. Fonseca played as a member for a short time. Chris Alaniz was hired on January 17th 2008 as permanent drummer and brought into the family. There were many heated debates over a worthy name. Their re-emergence into the Austin music scene would echo through all Rock ’n Roll avenues. All would come to embrace this new band by name and legend: HIGH WATT CRUCIFIXERS. Crawling back from the black pit of failed dreams, the march towards Rock N’ Roll Salvation began. Now, they’ve come and they are here, bent on their holy mission of spreading the gospel. They are the gathering disciples. The High Watt Crucifixers have indeed been re-born into the world of Rock n’ Roll and have every intention of saving it. The Crucifixers are here to stay. They are here to save this Rock ’n Roll...and they will. FORMED FROM THE STILL-SMOKING ASHES OF CHOKING AHOGO IN MAY OF 2006, THE MERCERS CONTINUE TO BUILD ON THE BAND'S PENCHANT FOR MESMERIZATION While comparisons to early Peter Gabriel, the Who, and Guided by Voices are apt, the Austin group is perhaps most proud of the occasional country influence. “Combining our brit-pop inspired melodies with the occasional pedal steel or country/western chord progression gives our songs a sort of eerie quality” says front man Peter Wagner. “We're from Texas, but it's obvious our minds have wandered elsewhere.” Peter, born and raised in Austin, met the Ray brothers in college through a shared membership in several bands with Bryan Ray. After nearly crippling his left hand opening a can of paint thinner with an exceptionally sharp knife, he asked Erik Ray to help out on guitar. Erik eventually found a permanent spot in the band's lineup, playing both guitar and keyboard. Ethan Herr joined the band after he and Peter were introduced by a mutual friend. The Mercers' brit-pop sensibilities, whining pedal steel, eclectic influences, and affinity for sad, haunting melodies give this talented quartet's efforts on PRETTY THINGS WALK a strange but accessible beauty listeners will quickly find themselves drawn to, again and again.
