Fidel Steps Down
from KUOW's The Conversation February 19, 2008
This morning Fidel Castro resigned as president of Cuba. What do you think his legacy will be? Are you Cuban? What comes to mind when you think of Fidel? Have you lived in Cuba or visited? What impressions do you have of his impact? Castro is the last of the iconic leaders of the Cold War. He outlasted eight U.S. presidents, U.S. sponsored assassination attempts and the ill fated Bay of Pigs invasion. Castro survived the collapse of the Soviet Union, Cuba's biggest international supporter. The closest the world came to nuclear war was during the Cuban missile crisis. Share your thoughts on Fidel Castro.
