"He can't lose that edge, that hunger, and is very conscious about what is said and what is happening in the street and in music. Plus, he uses the proper words to reflect that." Gomez lives the music from sunup to sundown - his morning show on KMEL-FM (106.1), an afternoon music video program on the California Music Channel, gigs at nightclubs and weekend promotional appearances. All this with four hours of sleep and a smile. "It's the same music, but it's the people who make every day different," Gomez, 33, said. "It's people that smile, that's what makes me enjoy what I do." PUSHIN' THE BAY TV (PTBTV) is the most informative, up to date, and entertaining resource for classic Bay Area hip-hop. While maintaining his street credibility at the same time as recording sure-shot hit singles, 21 year old hip-hop artist Priceless Da ROC has shinned on every aspect of being a complete artist. "Its a shame that California has its own stereotype, Just because im from california they expect me to be a blood or crip" Being featured on over 20 mixtapes and sharing the stage with the likes of artist such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, The Diligentz, Murphy Lee, San Quinn & more, Priceless Da ROC is proving that he is not only one of the best lyricist to come from the west, but also one of the most marketable. In the process of starting his own label "Tru Playaz Entertainment (TPE)" Priceless has already had over 14 thousand hits of his mixtape "The Grand Laceny" and over 2 million views with over 1 million plays on his myspace page without any type of major or indie promotion. Being from Both Washington DC & California gave him the opportunity to see what music on both coast and both crowds could appreciate and used it to his advantage. While making Hip-Pop records and still keeping street credibility, Priceless is looking like a bright star for not just the westcoast, but hip-hop in general. To help filter his name and allow more easy access for fans to search for his music, Priceless will be listed under Priceless Da ROC I Repeat (lol) To help filter his name and allow more easy access for fans to search for his music, Priceless will be listed under Priceless Da ROC." This idea to PUSH THE BAY manifested into a concert series/artist showcase called PUSHIN' THE BAY as well as PTBTV. Co-host and veteran Bay Area MC Ray Luv lends his experience and position in the formative stages of the Bay Area rap scene to PTBTV. Unlike other shows PTBTV features a host who draws from direct experience in relation to the shows mission as well as with its interview subjects. Ironically it was Luvs work that brought T into the world of hip-hop. Videographers who are members of PTBTV can capture the "Story Behind the Story" of your wedding in ways that just weren't possible even two or three years ago. Today, some brides opt for video coverage to begin on the morning of their wedding, while others begin coverage far in advance. Advance coverage may start with video of the planning stages of your wedding, the story behind your engagement, or your own special music video. You may also want to consider coverage of your rehearsal dinner, where emotional, heartfelt toasts are typically made. Many brides also prefer a special short-form photo/video montage that combines childhood and engagement photos and memories, which is shown at the reception. From very simple to very complete, your videography options today are exciting, elegant and unlimited! And each can be completely tailored to suit your individual needs and requests. (watch in HD) PTBTV aka Pushin' The Bay EXCLUSIVE! In this exclusive / raw video (Part 2 of 2), Mac Mall brings the Pushin' The Bay staff half way across the world to Aruba & Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico aka "Associated Free State of Puerto Rico", is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico is composed of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands and keys, the largest of which are Vieques, Culebra, and Mona. The main island of Puerto Rico is the smallest by land area and second smallest by population among the four Greater Antilles (Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico). Puerto Ricans often call the island Borinquen, from Borikén, its indigenous Taíno name. The terms boricua and borincano derive from Borikén and Borinquen respectively, and are commonly used to identify someone of Puerto Rican heritage. The island is also popularly known as "La Isla del Encanto", which translated means "The Island of Enchantment." Aruba is a 33-kilometre (21 mile) long island of the Lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean Sea, 27 km (17 mile) north of the Paraguaná Peninsula, Falcón State, Venezuela. Together with Curaçao and Bonaire it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands of the Leeward Antilles, the southern island chain of the Lesser Antilles. An autonomous region within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Aruba has no administrative subdivisions. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape. This climate has helped tourism as visitors to the island can reliably expect warm, sunny weather. It has a land area of 193 km2 (75 square mile) and lies outside the hurricane belt. Artist: Vital, Song Title: Have You Seen Her, Album Title: N/A (2009), Label: Wash House Music Used with permission and video courtesy Wash House Music. "Vital is a youngster fresh off the turf. Born & raised in the infamous Vallejo California Crestside neighborhood, better known as "The Crest". To say an artist is a product of their environment is cliche, but in Vitals case it is prophetic. Growing up in the same neighborhood that produced Mac Dre, Mac Mall, Dubee, Thizz Nation and one of the birth places of the Hyphy movement, put Vital in the right place at the right time. Vital is the next generation to come up after these now legendary factors. Recognized by his predecessors as a bright talent, led him to work with these artists at a very young age. Displaying equal promise as both a rapper and a singer, earned him notoriety in his hood and beyond. Vitals career began at the age of 14 when Mac Dre's partner and cofounder of Thizz Ent. started a new label to showcase Vitals unique talent. That company is called Wash-House Music. Vital has been recording non-stop ever since, having completed hundreds of songs. He has been fortunate to record with a slew of multi-platinum artists including Snoop Dogg, The Game, E-40, Juvenile, Lloyd, Lil' Scrappy and many many more. Vitals current independent release is titled "Failure Is Not An Option". This album has earned him attention and support from both Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg. Vital represents the future of Bay Area music and urban music on the whole. Clever lyrics and beautiful melodies combined with tons of character and confidence equal the whole package. Give him one look and a listen and you'll see why Vital is called "The best kept secret"." PUSHIN' THE BAY TV presents 'RAW TALENTS', a music video showcase for local, unsigned, independent Bay Area / West Coast artist(s). PUSHIN' THE BAY TV is the only media outlet supporting Bay Area talent! Want your music video seen here on PTBTV? Submit your 'raw' music video to rawtalent@pushinthebay.com. Artist: Mainy Mike featuring Tha K.Y.D. & Turf Talk, Song Title: We On, Album Title: N/A (2009), Video Director: Rapshack Films Used with permission and video courtesy Rapshack Films. "Mainy Mike is a Oakland-born rapper that has upper management written all over him. He came up in East Oakland where he learned his hustle and got his swag. Although Oakland may have a bad reputation, Mainy turned his negative experiences into positive ones. Mike got the name Mainy Mike from a co-worker Chi, at a bay area radio station. He was named Mainy Mike because he is so outgoing. "I do what's fun to me and that's how I get down. I don't like alot of drama around me," says Mainy. The 24 year old artist, got his start at the age of 12. He started in a group with his little brother Young B. The group was a success, but as they grew in age they just went there separate ways. No hurt feelings between the two, you can find Young B on the song "We In Here." That will be on the debut Mainy Mike album set to drop in September 09. In high school Mainy played basketball and football, he also developed a sports mentality that he eventually brought to the rap game. "In a game, I will not stop, I don't care if it's smackin the quarterback, or going dumb on the sideline. That's how I'm gone play this Hip-Hop game, fast and I wont stop dropping hit after hit," he says. "I'm an opportunist. If I get an opportunity to do something, It's done." Fittingly, his signature word is "Numf" — a term he says stands for a sucka, or a person who is fake. "We On" is the first single off Mainy debut album "Who is Mainy Mike." The single features Turf Talk, a bay area rapper also the cussin of E40. The single also features KYD, also a bay area rapper and the cussin of Mainy Mike. The song "We On was made for the streets," says Mainy. "We can make all the songs in the world, but if I don't keep it real and take it back to where I come from then it don't mean nothing." Not just a one hit wonder the whole album is a hit. Mainy ENT is something more to add to the already long list of things that Mainy Mike can do. He is the CEO of Mainy ENT. The label includes super producer Z, the first lady of Mainy ENT Krys, and the boss lady Tierra-Latte'. Mainy is building this label from the ground up. "Running a label/entertainment company is not as easy as it looks, it takes dedication. I'm a artist as well as the CEO, so I have alot resting on me" says Mainy. The label was founded in 2005 by Mainy, and it has truly grown since then. After Bay Area DJs broke one of Mainy's songs on their mix shows, local radio stations got an onslaught of listener requests. Within weeks Mainy was, and still is a hot topic in the bay. Mainy Mike has been featured in magazines, albums, and has been featured on many shows with big figures in the game. Performances include on stage appearances with Kafani, Too Short, Keak da sneak, Turf Talk, D-lo, Young B, and The Pack. Just to name a few. If you haven't seen a Mainy show you dont know what your missing. The energy he brings to the stage is dynamic. He also has been featured on com-cast, Ozcatradio.com, 106.1 kmel, and many more tv, and radio stations. Mainy's out to make club bangers, Street anthems, Love tunes, and that ryder music. He is taking no prisiners."Who is Mainy Mike" is the title of his debut album. He intends on selling 15,000 copys in the first three weeks. Thats a big goal, but Mainy is fully prepared to put in all the extra work nessisarry to make it happen. Many plans ..ping four or five songs as singles, to keep it real the whole album is filled with singles." The program was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks. The familiar logo of a train with the name on it was designed by Walt Disney Studios. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) charity, serves to fund, raise funds for, and support the program. The mission of the program "is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted." Marines passing out toys will frequently be in full dress blue uniform. Toys For Tots began as a Los Angeles charitable effort in in 1947. Hendricks, USMCR, and local Marine Reservists collected some 5,000 toys for local children that year. Their efforts were so successful that in 1948 Toys For Tots was launched as a national campaign. The program has run every year since. Tupac Shakur aka 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls the controversy helped spark the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry. Shakur was later convicted of sexual abuse. After serving eleven months of his sentence he was released from prison on an appeal financed by Marion Suge Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records. In exchange for Suge's assistance, Shakur agreed to release three albums under the Death Row label. On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, and died six days later of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at the University Medical Center. Christopher George Latore Wallace (May 21, 1972 March 9, 1997), popularly known as Biggie Smalls (after a gangster in the 1975 film Let's Do It Again), Big Poppa, The Black Frank White (from the film King of New York), and his primary stage name, The Notorious B.I.G., was an American rapper. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Biggie grew up during the peak years of the 1980s' crack epidemic and started dealing drugs at an early age. When Biggie debuted with the 1994 record Ready to Die, he was a central figure in the East Coast hip-hop scene and increased New York's visibility at a time when hip hop was mostly dominated by West Coast artists. The following year, Biggie led his childhood friends to chart success through his protégé group, Junior M.A.F.I.A. While recording his second album, Biggie was heavily involved in the East Coast-West Coast hip hop feud dominating the scene at the time. On March 9, 1997, he was killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. His double-disc set Life After Death, released fifteen days later, hit #1 on the U.S. album charts and was certified Diamond in 2000. Biggie was noted for his loose, easy flow , dark semi-autobiographical lyrics and storytelling abilities. Since his death, a further three albums have been released. MTV ranked him at #3 on their list of The Greatest MCs of All Time. Because of his success and influence on music, he has become a cultural icon. In his year of success, Biggie became involved in a quarrel between the East and West Coast hip-hop scenes with Tupac Shakur, his former associate. In an interview with Vibe magazine in April 1995, while serving time in Clinton Correctional Facility, Shakur accused Uptown Records' founder Andre Harrell, Sean Puffy Combs, and Biggie of having prior awareness of a robbery that resulted in him being shot repeatedly and losing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on the night of November 30, 1994. Though Biggie and his entourage were in the same Manhattan-based recording studio at the time of the occurrence, they denied the accusation. It just happened to be a coincidence that he was in the studio. He just, he couldn't really say who really had something to do with it at the time. So he just kinda' leaned the blame on me. Following release from prison, Shakur signed to L.A.'s Death Row Records on October 15, 1995. Bad Boy Records and Death Row, now business rivals, became involved in an intense quarrel.
