Deborah Harper, President of Psychjourney, interviews Mr. David Giffels, author of All the Way Home: Building a Family in a Falling-Down House published by William Morrow. Former Beavis and Butt-Head writer David Giffels is a columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal. Giffels is the coauthor of two other books: the rock biography Are We Not Men? We Are Devo! (SAF Publishing, 2003); and Wheels of Fortune: The Story of Rubber in Akron, a 1998 history of his hometown that is the bestselling title in University of Akron Press history. His essays appear in The American Midwest: An Interpretive Encyclopedia (Indiana University Press, 2006), and The Appalachians: Americaâs First and Last Frontier (Random House, 2004), and he received a âNotable Essayâ citation in Da Capo Best Music Writing 2004.. His writing has also appeared in the New York Times magazine and Redbook. He is a contributing commentator and essayist on National Public Radio station WKSU in Kent, Ohio. In a 17-year career, he has won dozens of journalism awards, including the 2006 National Award for Commentary from the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors. Pamela Stone is Professor of Sociology at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her research has been supported by a variety of funders including the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Sloan Foundation. Former chair of the Department of Sociology at Hunter, Stone was the recipient of a fellowship at the Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University, where she also served as Associate Director of the Radcliffe Public Policy Institute. In May of 2005, Jessica quit her job to follow her dream of becoming a published author. I have been arrested more times than I'll talk about but never convicted. Been shot, stabbed, set on fire, and beat with everything from beer bottles to golf clubs. I am the proud father of four great kids and the husband of a very patient wife who deals with my insanity to the best of her ability.
