En 1963, elle se tourne vers la chanson et se produit dans plusieurs salles parisiennes en interprétant ses propres textes. L'audience de Brigitte Fontaine s'est notablement élargie depuis le début des années 2000, et ses apparitions télévisuelles ne sont jamais banales.
