Audio responsive textures, Snakes

Audio responsive textures, Snakes

from Vimeo / The Vimeo HD Channel on April 02, 2009
Duration: 0
Made with Processing. Audio by Royksopp ("Royksopp Forever" off Junior). Fairly big step for me with this video as far as my understanding of GLSL is concerned. With some aggressive pointing and prodding from Barbarian Mr. Bell (drawnline.net), I have come to understand the potential of animated texture mapping in the shader. Very much looking forward to exploring this new possibility. More examples and a writeup of the process in a soon-to-follow blog entry. Cast: flight404

Made with Processing. Audio by The Flashbulb ("Six Months Without Light" from the album Kirlian Selections) Read about this project here: flight404.com/blog/?p=151 View the high res version here (300Mb): flight404.com/_videos/relentless/ Please note that this video is not an official Relentless video. It is a test render to make sure the audio reaction is behaving properly. The Flashbulb is not affiliated with the Relentless brand. I chose this song because I love The Flashbulb and his songs are extremely easy to analyze. Read more about The Flashbulb here: theflashbulb.chicagoacid.com/news.php Cast: flight404

Art collides with Code

Art collides with Code

from daniel shiffman on February 10, 2009

Two announcements. I am incredibly honored and excited to be participating in the upcoming Art and Code symposium, organized by Golan Levin at Carnegie Mellon University. Visit Art and Code In addition, I m finally working on a new tutorial page for the Nature of Code site. The tutorial will be about resolving collisions and I m using the excellent book Mathematics and Physics for Programmers as a basis. I ve posted the very first example, a simple implementation (using PVector) of two circles (equal mass) colliding. Note the collision is an idealized elastic collision. And the example isn t terribly sophisticated and needs some improvements in order to work with more than two objects.

sleepy subwaytime

sleepy subwaytime

from advin20 on December 20, 2008
Duration: 212
To sleep... It is usually such a private act. But on the subway trains of New York the private and public arenas merge. Sleeping is also a vulnerable time, where even people's faces, which are usually tense during the day relax and loosen their muscles. It is something we all have in common-- in this rough and tumble place to see people that may be rough around the edges, weathered from their work days, surrender themselves to sleep-- we all give in and surrender to the sounds and the repetition of tracks and the train movement... "sleepy subwaytime is the first part of an ongoing project that uses surreptitiously-taken video clips of people asleep (or falling asleep) on the train that have been collected for over a year and a half of living in New York. A computer program assembles together shots based on an algorithm that puts together Wide, Medium and Close-ups of the same subject in addition to creating a structure based on specific parameters ("detail shots", "movement shots").... Shots of people with their mouths open, their hands hanging limp, their heads nodding off before going into sleepyland... This computer program accesses this database of movie clips and plays them back according to type of shot, color, content, and re-arranges them into small narratives on the screen. Each 16:9 square tells its own story but its meaning changes based upon context and what is next to it. New connections are made and stylistic and formal composition are explored... This is a first video sketch of a program written in the Processing language that is currently being tested. Future directions may include animation or rotoscoping of the original source material. * * e. lytton
