The Byrd Gang leader also expressed his thoughts towards Trick Trick who was originally reported to have been shot. Shout-out to Detroit, Jones said in an interview with hip-hop personality Miss Info. Negative. Nah, nah nah [no shooting took place]. What did the news say? Did the news say they was a shooting? Ah man, shout-out to Trick Trick, I hope he get better. Detroit clubs are tricky. They got a lot of problems going on out there. (Miss Info) Rumors cited the involvement of a Detroit rapper who had another version of Na Na Na. Not everyone was happy with Jim Jones new song Na Na Na. There is a Detroit Rapper who had the exact song last year. Rumor is Jim Jones was jumped by 20 goons in Detroit, Michigan. Word in the streets is that last night around 2 am at Club Esko in Detroit, Jim Jones, who was about to perform, was rushed and beaten by at least 20 Detroit natives. Reports claim that three individuals were shot. (World Star Hip Hop) Trick Trick is also addressed the rumors of him being shot saying he was nowhere near the club during the alleged incident. He told WKQI-FM (95.5) on Monday morning that he was at home restin and chillin . I m at home. I ain t left this house since Saturday. Trick told WKQI s Mojo in the Morning program Monday morning. Trick said he received a concerned phone call from his mother early Monday, after she had heard a report on television that her son had been shot. After he told her he was safe at home, Trick said his mother called WDIV-TV (Channel 4) and told them to stop reporting the story. As for why he had been linked to the shooting incident that reportedly left two wounded, I m still trying to figure that out, Trick said. (Detroit News) Early reports said both Jones and Trick Trick were involved in a shooting Monday (March 16) morning. Ten men rushed the Esko Lounge on Michigan Avenue near Shelby Street, according to Detroit police. The men got into a fight with rapper Jim Jones and shots were fired. Two men were hit, including a man police identified as Christian Mathis. Local 4 confirmed Mathis was taken to the emergency room at Detroit Receiving Hospital. He is in serious condition. The other man s condition is unknown. Police are looking for the gunman. US capital blighted by HIV/Aids City authorities say they are fighting the problem with vigour (bbc news) The US capital is suffering an epidemic of HIV/Aids worse than some African nations, with 3% of over-12s infected, the city s department of health says. Its report suggests the hardest-hit sections of the population are black men, and people aged between 40 and 49. The infection rate puts Washington DC on a par with Uganda. But one factor may be a drive towards more HIV/Aids testing, and the city government insists much is now being done to tackle the problem. According to the report, both the United Nations and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have historically defined an HIV epidemic as generalised and severe when the overall percentage of disease among residents of a specific geographic area exceeds 1%. I think we re seeing the increase recently because the new director of our HIV/Aids administration here in Washington has put a large push for everyone to get tested Dr Raymond Martins Whitman-Walker clinic The overall proportion in the District is three times higher, the report says. By comparison, less than half of 1% of Americans are living with cancer. Even the 3% figure, the report says, is certain to be an underestimate, as so many of Washington s residents are unaware that they are infected. In the District, nearly every population group and age is experiencing a substantial epidemic, the report says, with the greatest rates of infection among black men (6.5%), Hispanic men (3.0%), and white men (2.6%). In terms of age, those aged 40-49 are the worst affected (7.2%), followed by those aged 50-59 (5.2%). The main mode of transmission is men having sex with men, followed by heterosexual sex and infection through drug use. Actually 5% The chief medical officer at the Whitman-Walker clinic, one of Washington s biggest HIV organisations, told the BBC that the real figure could be even higher. When they ve tested large groups of the District population it looks like the prevalence is actually about 5%, which is higher than the 3% but a lot of the people haven t been tested yet, said Dr Raymond Martins. In a statement issued through Sarah Palin s political action committee, Miss Palin said she had been devastated by some media intrusion into their relationship. He however admitted that this has not been the case for sometime and the owner has been considerate. He however added that there was still some discomfort. Brown said, We do have a problem because we don t feel comfortable knowing that these practices are going on nearby. On one and two nights, you know the go-go club is there, so some of the girls will come outside in theirpanties and that type of behaviour, and we don t really appreciate that. And you know people will say things like since it s a church why is there a motel and a strip club nearby. He said those in the church try to spread the word to the club s patrons and visitors. We try to talk to dem and encourage dem to be a part of the church, but it s not so convincing, he said. As far as the noise though, they realise that we don t like it and they try not to play it so loud, especially on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when we have our services. The owner also told us that he would talk to his workers, so they wouldn t play as loud when we have our worship. He said no one has been turned off from attending the church because of its location. When THE STAR contacted the owner of the club, he said the church usually calls and complains if the music is too loud. He added however that this has not happened for a while. Several residents attested to what was reported to The Star and declared that they will have a better Christmas because Johnny only chooses to break into the houses of elderly folks and young girls whom he often times rapes. In the meanwhile they told The Star that their only regret is that his accomplices are still on the loose. Detectives from the St Catherine South Homicide Unit are conducting investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Johnny s death. A raid was conducted and a number of women clothings, including bikinis, wigs,stockings and pictures of men dressed as women, were seen. The cops say that the adults could not properly explain why the juvenile was at the dwelling and they were only able to ascertain that he is from St James and is not related to the other occupants. Inspector Lanford Salmon of the Old Harbour police said they have released three of the adults since they were taken in for questioning. The juvenile is being held to appear in court and in the meanwhile we are going to try and find his parents or guardian. One of the adult also remained with us, as he is facing a charge of possession of ganja, the inspector said. Low Her Now) Internet hacker(s) gained access to the MSN e-mail account (Hotmail) of  Jamaican information minister Olivia Babsy Grange on Sunday and attempted to scam money from more than 500 contacts in the minister s database. While the attempt was not successful, this was the second MSN e-mail scam attempt of this kind as Newstalk 93 FM disc jockey Tony Gallimore also had a similar experience earlier this month. Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, Grange said the hacker(s) gained access to her e-mail after she responded to a prompting she received while using her Hotmail account. I was going through my mail on Sunday and a message popped up saying that MSN was shutting down and I needed to send in my account details to verify my account and keep it active, the minister said. I was locked out of my e-mail after I sent in that information. Minister Grange said the mail started circulating shortly afterwards as contacts from all over the world started calling her to validate the authenticity of the message. Soft loan An excerpt from the mail, similar to the one that was sent out after Gallimore s e-mail was hacked, read: How are you doing? hope all is well with you and family, I am sorry that I didn t inform you about my travelling to England for a programme called Empowering youth to fight racism, HIV/AIDS and lack ofeducation. I need a favour from you a soft loan urgently with the sum of $2,500 to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home, let me know if you can be of help so that I can send you the details to use when sending the money through western union. The information minister said that one contact came close to falling for the scam. That individual called another friend to ascertain what currency the money should be sent in, as the e-mail, while stating the Babsy was in England, did not ask for pound sterling. Minister Grange said the matter was not reported to the police but noted that she was in dialogue with MSN.com, which promised to investigate the hacking. Persons are being warned to exercise caution if asked for their e-mail account details (username and password) on any website while browsing the Internet. Auto Insurance is the biggest segment of the insurance picture; so without those cars, that industry will also be soon seeking a bailout - and what of the skrippers, coney island folks, gas stations;  jiffylube,; kfc; party stores, grocery stores; payless shoes; and of course red lobster and ihop; they depend on these workers to help keep them afloat. even mickey d s will take a hit if the big three go under. we didn t even mention the farmers and producers who supply these stores with their products for these workers to purchase. is it getting clearer to you as a picture now ??  we live in a circular economy, and it is going to experience a domino like crash if something does t stem the momentum of collapse. recession is in full swing, no doubt, but a depression; we need to avoid that at all costs. Bush, Obama camps clash over aid for ailing auto makers PAUL KORING From Wednesday s Globe and Mail November 12, 2008 at 5:12 AM EST WASHINGTON — Gridlock has stalled the President and his successor over the issue of spending tens of billions of dollars to make America s battered auto makers roadworthy again. Yesterday, both camps were digging in to their separate positions on the issue. President George W. Bush and president-elect Barack Obama have policy differences, but that doesn t mean they re not both interested in helping improve the economy for the benefit of American citizens, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said yesterday. Mr. Obama and Mr. Bush, the Oval Office s lame-duck occupant, apparently failed yesterday to agree on when or how to structure a big bailout of the auto makers. Mr. Obama, echoing leading congressional Democrats, wants the Bush administration to funnel already approved funds to car manufacturers. He apparently told Mr. Bush as much during a private, hour-long Oval Office meeting on Monday. But Mr. Bush wants congressional Democrats to explicitly authorize the tens of billions of dollars the big car makers say they need to avert bankruptcy. We have gone as far as we can, Ms. Perino said, referring to the bailout funds already authorized. If [auto makers] believe that that s not enough for them, they need to continue to work with Democrats, and then we ll see what they can come forward with. The White House denied reports that it was linking help for the auto makers - which Mr. Obama wants to deliver to save hundreds of thousands of high-paying manufacturing jobs in unionized Democratic strongholds - to winning the next president s backing for Mr. Bush s last free-trade pact, a deal with Colombia, which increasingly protectionist Democrats don t want. They also oppose it because union leaders have been targeted for killings in Colombia. In no way did the President suggest that there was a quid pro quo, Ms. Perino said. Mr. Obama s transition team also denied that any quid pro quo was raised, and discounted reports of any tension with the White House. But both the President and the man who will replace him were clearly jockeying for advantage behind the public façade of an amicable working visit and the first extended conversation between the two. Yesterday, aides to Mr. Obama said he wants to name a prominent czar to oversee any bailout and transformation of the auto industry. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi warned that the collapse of any of the Big Three car makers would have a devastating impact. During his election campaign, Mr. Obama made sweeping promises to save and transform the auto industry. He promised to direct billions in tax credits and subsidies to the industry so new fuel-efficient cars can be built in the U.S. by American workers rather than overseas and [to] ensure that American workers will build the high-demand cars of the future. But salvaging a domestic industry already eclipsed by Toyota and other foreign manufacturers, especially during a recession, may be politically costly as well as financially expensive. The Big Three - all of which have extensive operations in Canada - are hemorrhaging cash. General Motors Corp. may run out of money as early as next month and its stock price is at a half-century low. GM, along with Ford Motor Co., Chrysler LLC and the United Auto Workers have jointly asked for $50-billion from government - half to stave off industry collapse while they retool and half to go to the union s fund for retiree health care. Democrats want money from the $700-billion bailout package for financial firms to be channelled to the auto industry. The Bush administration says it can t do that because the money was specifically earmarked for financial firms, not industrial giants. Only the $25-billion set aside for loans to develop fuel-efficient cars is available, the current administration says. We understand that they re going through a very difficult time, Ms. Perino said. There s been business decisions they ve made over the years that have led to this situation. Independent analysts say as many as three million U.S. jobs could be lost if the big auto makers collapse, making their rescue a political imperative for the president-elect.
