But he couldn't attend the Academy Awards ceremony, because had he entered the United States, he would have been arrested as soon as his plane touched down. Or so the excuse went. While the scenario might have indeed played out that way, the story of his hypothetical incarceration was at that time more a part of the legend of Polanski than it was a matter of truth. More hearsay and speculation than complete fact. Now the difference between that legend and the lesser-known truth is exposed in the documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired. And basically it's the gap between a generalized truth and the whole truth. So, yes, as we all heard and/or discussed at our Oscar parties five years ago, Polanski was in fact a fugitive, having fled the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Truffaut estime que la création d''En attendant Godot' en 1953 a certainement marqué Polanski. Marcello Mastroianni n'a pas eu le temps de lire l'autobiographie de Polanski mais ce dernier rappelle que Mastroianni a rencontré Catherine Deneuve chez lui, et qu'il lui a plu même s'il était chauve à l'époque. Uno de los directores de origen polaco, (nacido en Francia) mas interesantes es Roman Polanski. Ahora en Enlatados abordamos dos de sus producciones "El bebe de Rose Mary" y "El Pianista", ésta última en la que refleja parte de sus vivencias personales en la segunda guerra mundial. Polanski dentro de su filmografía cuenta con alrededor de 29 filmes como director. "El bebe de Rose Mary" es una produccion de terror en la que Polansky tiene un manejo extraordinario de los actores (destacando Mia Farrow), el guión es muy bueno y la atmósfera creada de misterio que envuelve la historia concluye de una manera poco esperada pero interesante. Como dato curioso ésta producción fue filmada en el mismo bloque de departamentos donde años más tarde sería asesinado Jhon Lennon. Por su parte en "El Pianista", Polanski refleja el dolor de la segunda guerra mundial vivido por el pianista polaco Wladyslaw Szpilman. Aquí cabe destacar la actuación de Adrien Brody, quien obtuvo un Oscar por dicha interpretación y la forma en que el director plasmó una cantidad importante de vivencias sobre la guerra. También es de mencionar que el montaje, la música y la fotografía son muy cuidadas a lo largo de toda la producción, creando una atmosfera sombría como la guerra.
