This week, our ol' chaps from over the pond (that is what they're called, right?) check in to speak of the unspeakable drama going on at The Pirate Bay. Not unspeakable because it's dramatic, scary or obscene, but it's just unspeakable because... well... explaining the situation gives us a bit of a headache. We'll let Duncan expound on how pirate visitors to The Pirate Bay actually might have a better shot at getting away with it. Also, Dan chimes in on a notable trend, specifically the trend toward creating a "mini phone." In essence, the netbook / laptop relationship has extended to the mobile space, where less expensive smartphone handsets are starting to roll out in tandem with their bigger brethren. Phones like the Pixi and the Palm Pre, among others. What's with the fad, and is it worth buying into? Lastly, it's award season over at Pocket-Lint, and besides the requisite champagne dreams after winning a Pocket-Lint-ie (that's not what they're called), the guys explain some of their favs including a piece of software getting some U.K. buzz that soon could be coming stateside. Also, give us feedback if you've got it. pocketlintshow@techvi.com. We'd love to hear what you think of the show. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Up to 1 Million Xbox 360 Users Banned

If you have been reading gaming headlines in the past few days that do not concern Modern Warfare 2 s epic launch, you might have caught that Microsoft has banned 600,000 1 million of its Xbox 360 owners in the past week. Microsoft cites that All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live. The manufacturer also carries out piracy bans every November, which explains the timing. Essentially, if you mod your system to play games without paying for them, Microsoft will ban it. Naturally, the banned users that have modded their systems have been slightly less than happy about this. In order to quell some of the discontent, Major Nelson himself commented on the topic, saying that: As you may have read online, we ve been actively banning consoles from Xbox LIVE that have been modified to play pirated games. Our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community remains a top priority. All consumers should know that piracy is illegal, and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs, violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them. This would also be a good time to remind you that the warranty on an Xbox 360 console is not transferrable and if you purchase a used console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE. There you have it.
