The Pirates of Penzance, Gilbert & Sullivan's rollicking musical comedy is sailing into town! Featuring rowdy (but ineffective) pirates, a bevy of lovely maidens, and a cowardly squadron of police officers, this classic crowd-pleaser will be presented by Running to Places Productions, the new non-profit theatre company for middle and high school students in Tompkins County. Director Joey Steinhagen, Musical Director Ross Mizrahi, Choreographer Todd Peterson, and Production Manager Gail Belokur lead a talented cast of nearly 40 middle school students from all over the county in this hilarious show that's a treat for all ages. Featured performers include Emily Behrmann-Fowler as Mabel, St. John Faulkner as Frederick, Saia Meyerhoff as the Pirate King, Kevin Hilgartner as the Major General, Rebecca Woods as Ruth, Sophie Potter as Samuel, Jacob Clay as the Sergeant, Sari Koppel as Kate, Ana Dougherty as Edith, and Kelci Fargnoli as Isabel. Performances run from April 18-27 at Newfield High School Auditorium, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 2pm.
