Lightning Thunder Bolt creates shockwaves: Usain Bolt smashes 100 metres field and world record in Beijing Olympics final. Imagine if he had really tried. Pounding his chest, turning up the palms of his outstretched arms, mugging for the cameras before he even crossed the finish line, Usain Bolt rewrote the record books again and captured his first Olympic medal Saturday, toying with the field and running the 100-meter dash in a stunning 9.69 seconds. His left shoe was untied when he crossed the finish line. Not that it mattered much. He could've walked across. For the video: http://www.boredinthedorm.net http://www.zumont.com Beijing: The biggest drama of the day came with Matos' response after being disqualified against Chilmanov. Matos shoved the referee and kicked him in the head in a furious reaction. The Cuban took gold in the 2000 Olympics, but he did not take kindly to being disqualified halfway through the bout for taking too long to return to action after an injury. Matos was leading 3-2, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent. Fighters have a maximum of one minute's break for injury, and the referee removed him from the competition as soon as the time elapsed. Matos pushed and kicked the referee, drawing blood from the mouth, then attacked the Swedish judge before spitting on the floor and being escorted out of the arena. Both Matos and his coach Leudis Gonzalez have been swiftly handed a lifetime ban from all World Taekwondo Federation championships, subject to confirmation by the International Olympic Committee. Angel Matos is a cuban sportsman. He was suspended for life on Saturday, he throws a kick to the judge after losing a battle for the bronze medal in the Olympic Games. A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez offered no apology for Matos' actions during the men's over-80 kg (176 pounds) match.Matos was winning 3-2, with 1:02 in the second round, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov. He was sitting there, awaiting medical attention, when he was disqualified for taking too much injury time. Fighters get one minute, and Matos was disqualified when his time ran out.Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out. He was too strict, Gonzalez said, referring to the decision to disqualify Matos. Afterward, he charged the match was fixed, accusing the Kazakhs of offering him money. This is a strong violation of the spirit of taekwondo and the Olympic Games. The sanctions are the following and are effective immediately: Lifetime ban of the coach and athlete in all championships sanctioned by the (World Taekwondo Federation) and at the same time, all records of this athlete at the Beijing Games will immediately be erased, said the announcer, reading a WTF release. In his first match, Matos defeated Italy's Leonardo Basile, then beat China's Liu Xiaobo 2-1 in the quarterfinals. But he lost to South Korean Cha Dong-min in the semis to land in the bronze-medal match. To me it was obvious he was unable to continue, Chilmanov said. His toe on his left foot was broken. Matos won the gold medal in this division at the 2000 Sydney Games, dedicating the victory to his mother, who died on the day of the opening ceremony. At the 2004 Athens Games, he finished 11th.Matos' tantrum followed a day of confusion on the mats.

Interview Federer & Wawrinka after Double Win in Beijing
from YouTube :: Tag // Wimbledon August 16, 2008
This is the interview from Swiss Television at Swiss House in Beijing after winning gold medal in double. Transcript / Translation: Speaker: Some minutes ago Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka arrived at Swiss House. The big party can start. Interviewer: This is he whole proudness of the two olympic gold medalist winner in tennis double: Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka. Welcome here at the Swiss House. It was a big hype for you since the end of the match. Have you had already the time to breeth deeply and to realize what you were able to achieve? Roger Federer: Well a little bit of time we had actually. We were at the press conference, doping control, were taking a shower. After that we clocked with our friends, with all Swiss people who came into the stadium to support us. This was the nice time we get for us until now. Actually it is a little bit busy again but it is a pleasure as well. Interviewer: Stanislas Wawri.. Wawrkin Wawrinka (both have to smile). This is your first Olympic games and already a gold medal. Is it maybe like in a dream for you? Wawrinka: Yes it is like in a dream, that's true. It's something unbelievable to win a gold medal. Above all with double tennis. I've past a really nice week and I'm super happy! Interviewer: It was a great Olympic atmosphere at the tribune. Have you seen and heard the supporters from the Swiss delegation during the match? Wawrinka: Yes, it helped us also a lot. Yesterday at the semi final it was already like this and it helped us a lot. And today they made a lot of more noise. It made the whole thing magic. And also here (at Swiss house) it has a lot of people and it is already 2 o'clock in the morning. Interviewer: It seems you flourished during the double tournament. You played better and better from match to match. Federer: We really started weaker than what we played now at the end. At the end we were able to play the best tennis. That's exactly what I was hoping for as playing together with Stan. So that he can loosen from time to time and getting better and better. Finally he was able to show what he can. That it was the gold medal at the end is a dream. Interviewer: Stan you have enormous developed yourself. How was it for you? Wawrinka: Well it was like I already said: Magic. It's true that we started slowly. I had some difficulties at the first match but then we improved our game. We finished the tournament very solid and it's just great. Interviewer: This is the first Olympic games for Wawrinka. Roger for you the third ones. Which impressions do you take with you from the Olympic games here in Beijing? Federer: To be honest it was kind a stressful week for us. I've played ten or eleven matches within 7 days. I think it is very intensive. We didn't had a lot of time. I thought it will be easier. But the matches started at 4pm. In the last two days I went to bed at 4am. I didn't have had the chance to think about going and watching an other discipline here at the Olympic games. Personally I think it's a pity because it was also one of my goals. In Sydney I was able to watch different kind of things. 4 years ago in Athens I was not able to watch something different. And today I wasn't able again. Therefore I'm a little bit disappointed about that. But I hope the schedule for us the tennis players will be a bit better at the next Games so that we can enjoy it also a bit more. Interviewer: Catchword Olympic Games: We have to bring the question up: It's a gold medal in double. You look very happy. Does this double title outweigh the loss of the single? Federer: Well.. It's for sure something helpful to forget what happened. As you know it was a big goal of this season besides Wimbledon. Both of them I didn't get. Therefore it was hard at the beginning you know. But it was very important that Stan revitalized me. I've tried to revitalize him the same way for the double. And if... I wouldn't say that it was kind of a compensation. It's simple dream I had. Winning gold medal at the Olympic games... never mind if it was in double or single. Afterwards the joy now is kind of bigger because you can share your joy. Also if you have looked at us after winning the match point... celebrating together... it wouldn't have been possible in single. Interviewer: It's nice if you as single sportsmen are able to share this joy. Must be a different feeling as you have in normal matches. I would like to thank you for this interview. Congratulation again Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka and I wish you a pleasant journey to the US Open. Federer: Your welcome.
