Téléchargement >> [mp3 : 27,7 Mo] Patti Smith à la Fondation Cartier Land 250 Du 28 mars au 22 juin 2008, la Fondation Cartier présente Land 250, une grande exposition personnelle de l’artiste et musicienne américaine, dédiée aux multiples facettes de sa production artistique. Réunissant des oeuvres réalisées entre 1967 et 2007, elle permet de découvrir l’univers lyrique, spirituel et poétique de l’artiste. La voix vibrante de Patti Smith domine l’ensemble des installations, créées spécialement pour l’exposition et présentant une sélection de photographies, de dessins et de films. J'avais peut-être 8 ans, j'habitais en banlieue. Un dimanche après-midi, nous nous promenions en famille, avec ma sœur et mes parents. Une Coccinelle déboule en trombe sur la route de la piscine, sur son toît très chargé, un amas d'affaires mal arrimées, valises, sacs et cartons divers. La voiture prend un virage très serré, façon série télé, crissements de pneus et la voilà déjà loin. Un 33 tours est tombé à pieds. Je me baisse et ramasse fébrilement le disque vinyle intact. Il s'agit de Radio Ethiopia de Patti Smith. Je me souviens encore de la pochette noire, le visage de Patti Smith, assise par terre, de profil, sa chemise noire. C'est comme ça que j'ai découvert la musique de Patti Smith. Et son univers. Cet enregistrement réunit trois morceaux de l'Album Radio Ethiopia, du Patti Smith Group (Abyssinia, Distant Fingers, et Pissing in a River), mais également des lectures de la chanteuse (The Oracle, et One touch of Venus, extraits du livre Statues, Lecture de René Daumal au Café Le Rouquet, et un poème sur Picasso diffusé sur Arte en 2005), ainsi que Being beauteous et Départ, deux poèmes extraits des Illuminations d'Arthur Rimbaud, lu par Denis Lavant.

I mean, I grew up with kids named "Plinky," "Jiggs," and "Doine," but "Legs"? Well, let me tell you, that guy Legs McNeil could write. Some months, the only copy worth reading in Spin was under his byline. It wasn’t until years later that I learned that in the early 1970s, McNeil was a co-founder, with John Holmstrom and Ged Dunn, of Punk Magazine, which gave name to an entire musical generation. McNeil has since written two remarkable non-fiction books, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk, and The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry He’s also involved in a new documentary series unspooling across VH1, Spike, and the Sundance Channel in May called "SEX: The Revolution."
