Pathbreaker #007 - Mike Hudack on Success

First off, we couldn't fit everything into this first video because there was too much interesting content. So, before i get into my show notes let me strongly urge you to make sure you watch the second video as well which you can sign up for at our website www.pathbreaker.tv. Now for the notes.... I loved everything about this interview. From the moment we got to Blip.tv's office - the atmosphere, the energy, the attitudes, the people...were rife with the kind of thing i'd hope for at the frontlines of our global nervous system. I look at Blip.tv and i'm proud to be part of the emerging trend of podcasters - dedicated to broadcasting signals that promote awareness, intelligence and character. More importantly, i'm comforted that the people responsible for supporting my ability to do this - are excellent in their character. Mike represents to me, the ideal in the next generation of corporate leaders. And, to hear Mike talk about them, all five of Blip.tv's founders fit that profile. They are practical yet considerate. They are aware of how what they do effects the world around them. As they proceed with their business, they are constantly considering how they can benefit themselves, their company, their investors, their community and the global landscape of media that they are helping to reshape. There is no doubt in my mind that, humanity has achieved the best yet of a global nervous system Mother Nature has been building since the pre-Cambrian era. We can now transmit information almost instantly across a flattened world. But the days of top-down information feeds that were necessary to develop that system are passing. Mike Hudack, the other four founders at Blip.tv, Blip.tv itself and companies like it, are ushering in a new form of communication from me to you, and you to me. In turn, the system as a whole is getting better at broadcasting a better quality and greater quantity of information. This means good things for all of us. Blip.tv stands as a positive response to a tongue-in-cheek article i wrote for NLP World Magazine several years back. (http://devonwhite.org/mass_communication_2.html). They represent media's newest form of intelligence as well as the much needed evolution of corporate practices and values. It was a privilege to do this interview, standing at the verge of media transformation, peering out at what's coming through the eyes of one of our earliest and bravest media pioneers.

Pathbreaker #006 - Kevin Thompson on Surviving the World's Most Dangerous Job
from Pathbreaker on March 19, 2008

Karen and I met Kevin at a weekend workshop in early March and we just hit it off. Turned out - he had an amazing story to tell. And when he told it, he relived it. For any of you out there that have it hard, watch this interview for a little steadfast inspiration. Serendipitously, Kevin will also become one of our first resources for the pathbreaking entrepreneur - Kevin actually lived through one of the most challenging and intense journeys i've encountered and come back to the world to share the wealth of the wisdom he gained in a very literal and effective step-by-step fashion. To turn your dreams into dollars i recommend checking out his website, http://www.automaticincomesystem.com/. As a follow-up to the interview i found out that Kevin is expecting a baby soon and that his wife just retired to her dream of being a full-time mom. Congrats! The music in this piece is called "Otto Dangerfield 2008 Unplugged" by Alex Beroza. Enjoy! ~Devon p.s. My favorite title that didn't make it for this interview was, "Kevin Thompson on ignoring your hater-(ex)wife and making your dreams come true."

Pathbreaker #005 - David Gereg on Just Quitting

Take the plunge. I love everything about this interview. David had a successful career, he worked at a cool company, and when it didn't suit him - he left. Now he's doing something he loves and has just begun the heroic adventure of diving into something totally unfamiliar, guided by his passion, his wits, and the support of his wife and peers. He's down-to-earth, honest, and really into what he's doing. And he offers insight into whether or not to quit that job that makes you miserable.

Pathbreaker #003 - Jeff Castaldo on Saying No to the Family Business and Yes to His Dream
from Pathbreaker on February 21, 2008

Jeff was great to interview because he personifies many aspects of the hero's quest as originally laid out by Joseph Campbell. He heeded the call to adventure, leaving everything he had known--in this case his family and his hometown--to pursue his personal passion. And the boon he returned with was a life he loves - a wife, a daughter, the respect of his family, and a newfound internal strength that he can now do anything.

Follow your bliss! The essential message of this post is this:The world is going to tell you to go the safe route - don t do it. Though the road with heart is uncertain, and darkness where the monsters dwell - traveling someone else s path is a boring, defeated hell. Thanks to the students at Bard College where this workshop was given for their presence and participation. And strength to all who travel their paths despite the well-intentioned but damning advice of others.

Pathbreaker #001 - Jake Charkey, Musician

This is the inaugural episode of Pathbreaker.tv and i had the privilege to interview Jake Charkey, a professional musician, about hitting bottom and living his dreams. The interview was great and i don't think i've ever had as much fun editing a video. In addition to being a remarkable musician (we went and made some music after the interview) he is also just a real pleasure to spend time with. Enjoy. p.s. This is the first of many videos. I also plan on providing as many effective and reliable tools to support people in living their dreams as i can find. If you want to keep up to date go to the vlog's current site at www.pathbreaker.blip.tv and sign up.
