Hardwired to Connect - Nov 6th

Hardwired to Connect - Nov 6th

from For Faith & Family on November 06, 2009
Duration: 1500
The latest research in the neurosciences confirms what many mothers have long known. Children are born to bond. They develop through intense emotional relationships with the beloved people around them. Children have an innate need to connect deeply with other people and they long for a sense of moral and spiritual purpose. These are human imperatives. When they are not met, a child s potential is stifled. Scholars at the National Research Council in 2002 estimated that at least one of every four adolescents in the U.S. is currently at serious risk of not achieving productive adulthood. Today we have as our guest Dr. Kathleen Kovner-Kline principal investigator of a recent report issued by the Commission on Children at Risk, entitled Hardwired to Connect. You will want to listen closely to what Dr. Kovner-Kline shares with us today, because the goals and recommendations of this report will both startle you and encourage you, but most importantly it will ask something of all of us. Jesus said: My sheep here my voice. I know them and they follow me. John 10:27. Although on today s broadcast we ll discuss a secular report regarding the need to solidify the institutions which support connectedness in our society those of us with ears to hear recognize the voice of our shepherd calling us to once again follow Him, to lay down our lives, our desires, our wants and to take up the cause of the needs of our children. Our future and the fulfillment of our destiny will rest upon our response to that call.

#190: If Anything Ever Happened

from The Bitterest Pill on November 05, 2009
Duration: 3965
I try to remind everyone that Halloween is not actually a form of devil worship (while dusting off some very old stand-up material).  Also, and it may sound like a symantic arguement to you, but just because I can t find something doesn t mean it s lost.   And, how exactly am I supposed to handle it when someone is telling me something as if it s the first time for the hundredth time?  Is there protocal for that? I also talk about my mother, and my grandfather, the a-hole. (Hard drive trouble left me without the regular theme song. Forgive me for the nostalgia)
