*STORY IN DESCRIPTION* *Lauren's POV* "Lauren what is wrong with you, stop fidgeting!" "I can't help it Jess...I'm just really nervous about meeting them. What if they don't like me or something? What if they just completely ignore me and forget I'm even here?" "Ren seriously, you need to stop worrying. They know you're here and they can't wait to meet you! You'll see I promise." We were standing by the door next to the stage waiting for Big Rob to let them in. Once the door opened Jess immediately pounced onto Big Rob, squeezing the life out of him. He told us we were free to walk around and help ourselves to the food on the table. The boys were going to be there any minute. "Kevin what are you talking about? You did amazing tonight! Everyone loved you and you know it!" "Joe...that was the scariest thing I have ever done in my entire life! I'm not supposed to take the lead, that is yours and—oh, hey guys!" Oh my God. They're here. In front of me. And Kevin's smiling at me! I start to get butterflies in my stomach. I don't know what to do. I just want to run away in the other direction and hide, and then all of a sudden I hear Jess saying my name. "Oh and this is my best friend Lauren. As Joe finished saying this, he shot a breathtaking smile over in Jess' direction, immediately sweeping her away and out of the room and leaving me and Kevin standing around awkwardly, staring at the door. Literally three seconds after Joe and Jess left, I see a ball of curly hair walk away from the side of the stage and coming towards me and Kev. My stomach's knotting up in excitement even more than before. He ran his hands through is poofy, curly hair. God, my heart's pounding. Why is it that Nick just walking over here is making me twice as nervous as I was to meet Kevin and Joe? "Hey Nick," Kevin said in a warming (and somewhat relieved) voice. They were absolutely amazing. They were like a dark hazelnut color. I mean, they were beautiful. I can feel myself getting lost in them. Kevin interrupts my moment with, "So guyssss.......we should probably go look for Joe and Jess. God only knows where they went off to." I immediately drop Nick's hand and turn to look at Kevin. After the check had been taken care of by Joe, the two of them got back into the limo. A silence fell. In an effort to break it, Steffi cleared her throat and said, "So, you guys are working on a new tour?" "Yeah, we've got rehearsals for it all next week. I think it's going to be awesome, it's the Burning Up tour. We've created a whole new stage setup for it." "Sweet." The limo stopped again and Joe stepped out of the car. He turned around and held out his hand to help Steffi out. She took it willingly; her heels were killing her feet. To her surprise, he didn't let it go even after she was safely out onto the path. They walked hand in hand along the pathway, not saying a word. Joe stopped suddenly and turned around to face Steffi. She looked down at her feet, embarrassed for some reason. He took her other hand in his and moved closer to her, smiling. He dropped her left hand and brought his right up to her cheek, stroking it gently as the moonlight shone around them. He guided her face up and towards his own, leaning in at the same time. At the last second, Joe twitched and they bumped noses. "Um, Joe, you ok?" Steffi said. "I thought that never happens in real life," he said, turning bright red and stepping back away from her. Steffi moved forwards this time, slipping her hand back into his and leaving only a couple inches between her lips and his. "Now, where were we?" she murmured "Right about here..." Joe closed the gap and kissed her firmly, pulling away after a second. "You remember now?" "Nope, could you 'remind' me again?" Steffi said softly, the corners of her mouth turning up into a smile. Joe smiled and leaned in again, kissing her with more passion than before. "How about now?" he asked after pulling back. "Perfectly." "Good." Steffi slid her arms around Joe's neck, pulling herself up to meet his lips again. This time, she could feel Joe's hands around her waist drawing her closer to him...she suddenly got goosebumps as Joe hesitantly ran his tongue over her bottom lip. The kiss deepened until the couple was making out in the moonlight. After ten minutes, Steffi whispered inbetween kisses, "Joe, I need to get back soon." He pulled away and looked down at her flushed face. "Aww, do you have to?" "Unfortunately, yeah." "Just one more minute..." he pleaded with a puppy dog face. "Joe." He sighed and started leading the way back. "Fine, I'll take you back." She stopped suddenly and pulled him close again. "I have a minute." Joe leaned in and kissed her again before walking her back to the limo. At the Carmichael's front door, they kissed one last time, and afterwards Joe whispered, "You free tomorrow night?" Steffi smiled mysteriously. "You'll see." Joe gave her a 'look' and kissed the tip of her nose. She giggled and added, "Pick me up at 7." She hugged Joe tightly and kissed him on the cheek before entering the house. Allie and Lucy were both sound asleep on the couch; they looked like they had tried to wait up for her. She tiptoed into her room and had just closed the door when she got a text message from Joe. It read: Sweet dreams baby. Steffi drifted off to sleep thinking about her incredible date. AN: Ok, two things... One-sorry for the delay. I know I said I would post this part yesterday, but I was exhausted...and I kind of forgot. Oopsies! Two-...see bottom (after you read, of course) *Saturday night, around 6:52 PM* [AN: During the shopping spree in Forever 21, Jason accidentally told Lucy and Allie about Steffi's date, so they are helping her get ready.] "Allie, I can't find my purse!" Steffi shouted while digging through a pile of stuff. "I moved it to the kitchen table. Where's your necklace?" Lucy yelled back. Allie was sitting on the couch, staying out of the way. "I don't know!" Steffi said, emerging from her room. Allie raised her hand and held out the piece of jewelry; it was the locket Nick had given her the other day. Steffi snatched it and clasped it around her neck. She walked over to the kitchen, pausing to slip on her heels and double-check that her make up hadn't gotten messed up. Lucy came up behind her and fixed her hair, making the waves that had been created with a curling iron fall more naturally around her face. "Don't worry, it'll be fine. Your dress looks awesome, YOU look stunning, so stop panicking." Steffi nodded and nervously looked down, smoothing the front of her mini dress. It hit her around mid-thigh and had a bold geometric pattern on the fabric with a belt cinching it around the waist. The doorbell rang at 7:05 PM. Steffi opened the door to find Joe standing outside holding a single white rose and looking amazing as usual. His smile instantly appeared as he took in Steffi's presence. "Hey beautiful," he said while handing her the rose. She took it and smelled the flower. She laughed and said, "Smooth, Joe. Very smooth." "I try. Ready to go?" Steffi reached behind her and grabbed her purse, leaving the rose in a vase on the nearby table. "Definitely." Joe took her arm and walked her to the limo parked outside the house. As she got in and slide over on the seat, Steffi said, "By the way, did you plan to get here at exactly 7:05, or was that just a coincidence?" Avoiding the question completely, Joe said, "You look amazing tonight." "Thanks, you too. So where are we going?" Joe just laughed and said, "You'll see." "I hate it when people tell me that!" "Steph, patience is the key to life." "If that's true, then I'd rather pick the lock." He started laughing as the limo took off. Ok, so the second part of the AN from above...I've found an AWESOME story that's just starting out. *STORY IN DESCRIPTION* When the rest of them had gone, Mrs. Jonas turned to Steffi and started talking. After insisting Steffi call her Denise, she relaxed and started bonding with Steffi. Throughout the day she kept Joe's 'special friend' company; they went shopping and to the beach, all the while talking about random subjects. Over lunch, Denise brought up the boys. Steffi blushed and, after a little prodding by Denise, told her story. She ended with, "And that's how I know them. It's everything. I've gone over this a thousand times in my head, and I still can't figure it out. Joe can be really sweet sometimes, but I don't think I'm ready for another relationship...am I?" Denise shook her head sympathetically and said, "Oh, sweetie, I can't decide that for you. Only you know when the time is right. I wish I could say something else...oh, wait, one thing. Since you have a thing for Joe, you should know...stay away from him after he's had more than 3 energy drinks. He's crazy!" Steffi laughed and shook her head. "I believe that." The rest of the day was spent enjoyably, and around dinner time the family and friends reunited. Kevin, Nick, Allie and Lucy were all glowing, but Joe was sulking. Steffi, after giving her friends a strange look, walked up to him. "Aw, what's wrong Joe?" He looked up and smiled. "Nothing's wrong, I've just been mentally scarred for life!" He shot the last part of his sentence at the two couples. Steffi, following his glare, suddenly understood. "Oh, no, they weren't all over each other the whole time were they?" she asked. Joe nodded. Steffi shook her head and turned to face the rest of the group. "Come on, Allie, I thought you swore off excessive PDA? Remember Kristin and Andrew and how awkward it was in freshman year? Think of what you put Joe through today." Allie rolled her eyes and said back, "So what, he seemed to be having a fine time by himself. He was always texting you anyways whenever I tried to talk to him." Joe rolled his eyes when Steffi gave Allie a blank look; she gasped, muttered "Oh, no," and whipped out her phone, finding she had a gizzilion messages from him. She made a face and looked up at Joe. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. Joe looked away and laughed quietly. "It's ok. How was your day with my mom?" "She's actually really cool. A great listener." "Really? So, what'd you talk about?" Steffi turned slightly red. "Just, um, girl stuff. Nothing you'd be interested in." Joe looked at her suspiciously, but took the hint and dropped the subject. Unknown to the two of them, Denise and the rest of the group had been watching the conversation. At this, Lucy and Allie glanced over at Denise, who smiled and whispered she would fill them in the next day. After a pleasant family dinner, the girls left and returned to their house. Even though Allie and Lucy had been careful to hide the party preparations, they both breathed a sigh of relief when Steffi went directly to her room to think about her day. Back at the boys' house, Kevin filled in his mom on how the preparations were coming for the party and exactly what needed to get done the next day with Allie and Lucy. Meanwhile, Nick and Joe were planning a day of excitement far far away from where their mom, Lucy and Allie would be. SO...NOW DENISE KNOWS EVERYTHING. THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING. WILL ALLIE AND LUCY PULL THIS BIRTHDAY PARTY OFF? OR WILL ONE OF THE GUYS CRACK TOMORROW? EXACTLY HOW FAR AWAY ARE NICK AND JOE GOING TO MAKE THEIR OUTING? WILL DENISE HIT IT OFF AS WELL WITH THE REAL GIRLFRIENDS AS SHE DID WITH THE 'JUST FRIEND'?
