VINTAGE VIDEO (1988) - Part 2 of "Panache Encore", a nightclub in NYC, celebrating their 10th year in business (June 2, 1988). That evening's celebration was a marathon of performers who had appeared at Panache Encore, over the years. Bob Kneeland (a great guy) ran the club, and had asked me if I would perform for this event. Of course I said yes. It was a wonderful evening. This particular clip always makes me laugh. I wrote this song, "Don't Be Afraid", and was expecting it to be my opening song. I burst up onstage, ready to rip into this, only to hear the 2nd song intro starting up - which was a tearjerker song I'd written about my Dad. Talk about a rough (not to mention FAST!) mental adjustment! So, when "Don't Be Afraid" started, after I finished the ballad, I laughingly say "Here's the song I THOUGHT I was opening with..." Naturally, no one laughed - 'cause no one knew what I was talking about... BUT, when I see the video clip now? I laugh. Again, VINTAGE VIDEO - single shot, live performance. At Streaming Media East last week, Adobe gave some valuable booth real estate to Panache, an Encino-based software company that is providing a solution to publishers to integrate in-stream video advertising into the new Adobe Media Player.Panache also provides the solution to place ads into other video players.Unlike companies which provide in-stream services and share advertising revenue, Panache provides solution for publishers to manage the insertion of pre-roll, overlay and post roll ads into their video stream though a software solution. Publishers pay on usage but not on ad revenue. We spoke with Panache's Steve Robinson last week.-- Andy Plesser
