Rede Mídia - Mídia X Eleições
from YouTube :: Tag // sao paulo June 24, 2008
Horizon, Moon For Sale - Part 1
from YouTube :: Tag // business June 21, 2008
After 40 years, man is preparing to return to the Moon. But this time the astronauts won't just land on the Moon - they plan to stay. From his office in Nevada, Dennis Hope has spawned a multi-million dollar business selling lunar real estate. But scientists believe the real prize is trapped in the Moon's rocks. It contains large deposits of an extremely rare gas called Helium-3. Could Helium-3 be mined and used as a new source of almost inexhaustible, clean and pollution-free energy on Earth? Whoever succeeds in transporting Helium-3 back to Earth could solve the world's energy crisis. Who will win what has been dubbed the second Moon race? And should we be exploiting the Moon's valuable resources at all? Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll in BERKELEY!! Uncensored pt 1
from Most Viewed May 19, 2008
http://www.NGTV.com Berkeley on DVD available now. http://www.berkeleythefilm.com Join CARRIE KEAGAN for another exclusive and uncensored episode of NO GOOD TV's UP CLOSE featuring the cast and director of the movie Berkeley part 1. Berkeley is the story of Ben Sweet (Nick Roth), an eighteen year old middleclass boy who comes to UC Berkeley in 1968 to study accounting and avoid the draft. There begins an odyssey through sex, drugs, rock and roll, and political activism which turns his conservative world upside down, and leaves him on a path of exploration and self-discovery, far from the life of his father, Sy (Henry Winkler). Director's Statement Why did I make this film? Why does anyone make any film? I thought it was relevant, and it was a journey for me to explore why I became who I've become. At eighteen, I was an innocent. I won't say my whole peer group was, but we weren't afraid of so many things... we were curious, hopeful, and as I engaged in the anti-war movement I felt more empowered. I thought I could have it all... make great political films, travel, be an intellectual and part of a socialist revolution. Like my protagonist, I went to college because it was expected of me. It was an easier choice, because I needed the student deferment to avoid going to Viet Nam. In high school I defended my dad's Republicanism, and within two years I was calling him a capitalist pig. After I had dealt with my divorce in JACK THE DOG, and my sisters murder in MANHOOD, I felt I should make a film about my transformation from nice, middleclass Jewish boy to long-haired radical filmmaker; not because I thought myself so remarkable, but because I thought I was so very much a symbol of my generation. At the same time, my son, Nick was entering college and had decided to go to Berkeley and study Philosophy. It seemed a wonderful idea to collaborate with Nick and revisit a time like no other. Looking back, my choices seemed so arbitrary. I remembered a great deal, but understood very little. All I knew was I started college as a conservative who would play golf and go into his dad's carpet business, and ended it uncertain, having abandoned golf and exploring the possibility that I might be a poet or a novelist. I still have my doubts, but thirty-five years later I remain grateful for every young man and woman who crossed my path. They all left their mark on my memory, and guided me a bit to the music. At Berkeley I learned to fly. Bull Durham review (Siskel & Ebert)
from YouTube :: Tag // carolina May 13, 2008
Bull Durham is a 1988 American movie about love and baseball. It is based upon the minor league experiences of writer/director Ron Shelton and depicts the players and fans of the Durham Bulls, a minor league baseball team in Durham, North Carolina. Kevin Costner stars as "Crash" Davis, a veteran catcher brought in to teach rookie pitcher Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh (Tim Robbins) about the game in preparation for reaching the Major Leagues while baseball groupie Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon) romances "Nuke" but finds herself increasingly attracted to "Crash." Also featured are Robert Wuhl and Max Patkin, the "Clown Prince of Baseball". Baseball movies were not considered a viable commercial prospect at the time and every studio passed except for Orion Pictures who gave Shelton a USD $9 million budget with many cast members accepting lower than usual salaries because of the material, an eight-week shooting schedule, and creative freedom. He cast Kevin Costner because of the actor's natural athletic ability. During filming, Costner was able to hit two home runs while the cameras were rolling. Bull Durham was a commercial success, grossing over $50 million in North America, well above its estimated budget, and a critical success as well. Sports Illustrated ranked it the #1 Greatest Sports Movie of all time. In addition, the film is ranked number 55 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies." It is also ranked #97 on the American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Laughs" list, and #1 on Rotten Tomatoes' list of the 53 best reviewed sports movies of all time.
