In this outtake from a 1978 television interview, Cassavetes discusses his film Opening Night for a while, and builds into a terrific rant on movies and movie audiences. This is a great example of Cassavetes' way with words, his dislike of people who live only for the approval of others, and his anger at the low popularity of his later films (especially Opening Night and Killing of a Chinese Bookie) None of which was dealt with in the Constant Forge documentary that came on the Criterion Collection box set. It's opening night at the Cinequest Film Festival and we catch up with Danny Masterson (That 70's Show) who has not one, but two films premiering. The first, WAKE, is the opening night film, while the other CAPERS, he has produced as well as starred in, opens later this week. A group of 30 or so anti-Scientology protesters, many wearing masks, let their voices be heard by chanting and screaming "Scientology what? Scientology kills!" during Katie Holmes' opening night for 'All My Sons' on Broadway. The protesters are holding various signs which read "Free Katie! Scientology is a Cult!" amongst other protest slogans.
