On 9 November 2009, Greg Grossmeier made a presentation to the U-M School of Public Health faculty. The presentation provided an overview of the Open.Michigan initiative and describe the benefits of publishing learning materials as Open Educational Resources (OER) for faculty and researchers. Topics covered included: Disseminating educational materials to educators, physicians, clinicians, students, and self-learners throughout the world, free of charge. Enabling global access to health science education materials: lectures, labs, and other course curricula. Improving health education and health care delivery within the University, the State of Michigan, and worldwide.

In the first of a special series of podcasts with authors from Educause’s recent book, The Tower and the Cloud, today I spoke with Professor Andy Lane of the Open University. Andy’s paper, ‘Who Puts the Education into Open Educational Content?,’ is freely available in HTML or PDF, as well as in print when you buy the book.
