Nobody really wants to see my dumb old home movies, do they? Sure they do, otherwise Home Movie Day wouldn t be happening. Lots of people are interested in home movies of completely normal people, doing completely normal things for lots of really good reasons. Home movies from just a few years ago show a world that looks pretty different from the one we live in now: kids rode their bikes without helmets on; men wore hats and spats, and women wore gloves and girdles; public beaches and facilities in the South were segregated these are just a few examples! Seeing this world in home movies is useful for historians, writers, documentary filmmakers, costume designers, and even the ordinary people who live in those same (but somehow different) places today. If your home movies depict the everyday life of people of color, the differently abled, or others who continue to be under-represented in commercial films and on TV, we think it is especially important that they be shown.

Devil sticks manipulation is a form of gyroscopic juggling, or equilibristics and is generally considered to be one of the 'circus arts'. Sometimes called "devil-sticking" other terms often used are: "twirling", "sticking" and "stick juggling". A set of devil sticks is made up of three pieces - the baton and two control sticks - but it will often be called a "pair of sticks". Typically if a center stick is not tapered and possesses tassels at its end, then it is known as a "Flower Stick" This term is also now used to describe a straight center stick with any weights at its end and sometimes refers to hybrid sticks which are both tapered and have weights. Flower sticks can also be properly called "Devil Sticks" as that is the more general term. Fire dancing (also known as, "fire twirling," "fire spinning," or "fire manipulation") is a group of circus-art disciplines that involve manipulation of objects on fire. Typically these objects have one or more bundles of wicking, which are soaked in fuel and ignited. Some of these disciplines are related to juggling, and there is also an affinity between fire dancing and rhythmic gymnastics. Firedancing is often performed to music. Fire dancing has been a traditional part of cultures from around the world, and modern fire performance often includes visual and stylistic elements from many traditions.
