BSWC One-a-Day: Paolo Messere/Kiddycar - You Save Me From Understanding More

Found an excellent Halloween release. Actually this release is way more than that, lots of excellent sounds ranging a large number of genres -- with a somewhat spooky theme. The release is a v/a compilation from Silber Records : "The truth is, we don’t think of Silber as a record label as much as we do a family of artists from around the world, sharing mutual respect for each other. The artists we showcase are stylistically & technically different from one another, & because of this, our audience is wonderfully varied. However, there are common threads that hold us all together, whether they be in the form of walls-of-sound or acoustic guitars." Enjoy this track, but make sure to listen to the full release, it is well worth the 168mb download for the 192vbr... more than 2 hours of music. Released in March this year (SM014) on the netlabel Surreal Madrid, Miss Testosterone totally does the trick for me. Xylophone transformation, electronic beats, everything stays chill while no matter how fast the peice moves -- perfect with a beer in the morning ;) Karaoke Tundra, most recently appearing in the Sperm Festival, in Prague, hails from Slovakia. Luke Warm appears to be an artist from the U.K. -- although her/his myspace page does not reveal much. enjoy this delectable release... Miss Testosterone - Karaoke Tundar & Luke Warm

Here is a tune recorded by Oskar Erlandsson and Susanna Brandin in 2005 that was released on archive.org just today. Thank you. Really amazing singer/songwriter kind of stuff. A beautiful song, done well. Oskar Erlandsson and Susanna Brandin recorded the tune in Lund, Sweden. The rest of the release features different folks at different times, but it is well worth the listen. The release is called Björn Kleinhenz/Winter Took His Life - Blood bone / Home alone 2 on the netlabel, It's a Trap. Winter Took His Life - Please Don't

Plunderphonic fun coming at us for today's post from Nuthre, a very prolific Canadian Musician. The release, popstars, put out on the label Pop Quiz, is high energy pop / rap / dance / hip hop from start to finish. For the uninitiated, plunderphonic is a label applied to an audio composition made of components taken unselfconsciously and directly from existing pieces of music and altering to form a brand new composition. Mixing and splicing copyrighted materials without permission is the norm. This type of sampling is sometimes delicious, and usually a comment on the original work or on copyright in general. You may have heard Biotic refer to Chenard Walker as a "plunderphonic wunderkind" in his September 24th One-a-Day post. I hope you enjoy this track, and check out more of Nuthre's work, which does not follow this genre in general. You may have noticed we're behind by a few days on One-a-Day posting... fear not! This is due purely to a recent time crunch. Nurthre - Quoi Quoi Quoi

Well, it is October. Never too early to get started with BSWHalloween. Let's get going. This is from the netlabel, Noise Collector and Digi Hartatak. Digi Hartatak has been featured in these pages earlier with Nay, Nay and the tune, Balls. These sounds are emanating from Florida, if I'm not mistaken. It is getting spooky around here. From a collection of recordings from something called the Treewalk 2006 at a place called the Motueka area (South Island, Aotearoa/New Zealand). ""Funky Toning Jam" was another bit of hilarious spontaneity from the Friday night campfire at Riverside. It sounds like Damara was responsible. The saz is initially used percussively. Everyone (despite being seated) was fully in motion during this one. " I would love to get a chance to take part in a future Treewalk. Based on these recordings it is my sort of outing. I'll be the first to admit that with a daily deadline sometimes I put something up after hearing a few bars and figure it will work. O.K., so I'm not so proud, but it works and keeps the concept intact. But, the CC Netlabel world is so rich that frequently I can dip in and easily find something that totally rocks my world. Introducing, from Aidelaide, Australia, via the netlabel, monotonik (the sound is something of a departure for them)Bird Lantern. This release, DuD [mtk191], is a must. You will need to go and download the entire release. For today's selection I picked the down and funky, Sweet Papa Fridge. Man, I wish these guys were playing down the street right now. Try "Thrill". Wow. Bird Lantern - Sweet Papa Fridge

I don't remember ever posting a cover before, but this is an excellent general representation of the entire release, which I enjoyed straight through. It is a cover of Mazzy Star's big hit, Fade Into You. Moody, slow, melancholic, and lo-fi -- perfect. That description really works for the entire release, Come On Lincoln, released through the netlabel Cornslaw Industries. Cornslaw is based in Toledo Ohio and lives and dies by its motto "puttin' stuff on the web that wasn't there before." 1000000 a.d. has a myspace page and a site on Cornslaw, neither of which are very informative ;) I hope you enjoy this selection. 1000000 a.d. - Fade Into You

A classic. From the very first release of Chenard Walcker's netlabel, Free Sample Zone comes this incredible slice of the era. The tune was originally released in 1994 and rereleased on FSZ ten years later in 2004. The Fuzz explained in the original notes why they refused to pay royalties for using samples. They encouraged artists to follow their policy. They had no success, neither with the music nor with the Free Sample movement. They released their following albums under the name of The O. I'll be on the air later tonight. BSWC-The Show will be featuring tribute material from the WM Recordings Chenard Walcker tribute release....look for some classic Walcker stuff to go along with the feature release. I am pleased to post the first track of the first release from Commodity records! The release, Shackle Your Rams, is quite eclectic, and tasty. I came across it on archive.org From the Implosion Quintet Site: "Deliberately under-produced, unquantized and sketchy, these are sincere creations of real people. We do of course have aspirations in joining the long, long line of glossy corporate puppets and becoming pouting cut-outs locked into vacuous mainstream mediocrity, but, dash it all, we just cant seem to get used to the taste of sperm."Commodity Records is will be the central point for the release of Implosion Quintet's ongoing work, and other music that they like ;) . They admit freely on the site that there is no guiding philosophy for the label. I hope you enjoy this track: Implosion Quintet - The way to the people is through *bing*

BSWC One-a-Day: Chenard & Chicky - Street

Staying with the Chenard Walcker theme...he has done some wonderful work with Israeli poet, Roy "chicky" Arad. I really like today's selection for it's power and message. It was recorded the month before Chenard fell ill. The Street (Haifa-Beirut 2006) is a poem that Chicky wrote against the war in Lebanon. He bought a new 3 Euro microphone and tried to record it louder. He sent the recording to Chenard Walcker, who added music. Whether with his own productions or in company with other artists, Chenard Walcker has made a amazing impact on the "scene". Chenard & Chicky - Street

The first volume of the Chenard Walcker tribute release is up at WM Recordings. A impressive beginning, I must say. Chenard Walcker is the plunderphonic wunderkind responsible for all sorts of audio madness. Unfortunately, he was stricken and is now recovering. Chenard Walcker, a friend of the online music world, is slowly recovering from a diabetic coma. His brother reports that he is not physically suffering. He fell into the coma in September 2006, and is now working on speech development and object differentiation. We all are hoping for a full recovery. Chenard's presence is missed.
