iPod | 3:01| To Embed or Email: click on "Menu." I've learned about a new type of treated fabric that in combination with the sun, actually provides a special light therapy for your skin. It's made by SunSoul and you can see it with the hat I am wearing today. I love it when we can use low tech solutions that are self-managed instead of going into an office for a complex procedure machinery. Mahalo to Mark Manaoat and Jon Redmond for introducing today's episode! I met them while they were rescuing a nudibranch that had washed up on the shore. Hawaiian word: L : sun P S We are trying a new video platform this week, Viddler. It has a lot of cool features - you can leave a comment right in the video - or even leave a video comment! Please check it out! If you are having trouble with the iTunes version earlier this week, we fixed that. You can click on the iPod version link under the movie player and manually download the corrected version. We recommend you use the most recent version of iTunes software. But if you get a white screen on the main player, you will either want to upgrade your Flash or click on the iPod version to watch. That's required to support the in-video comments. YOu start off on a path that looks good, then encounter an obstacle. Sometimes you can get around it, sometimes you have to go back and start a new path. We've been dealing with that on Beach Walks eh? New software, breaks old paths. Some people have old version, some have new version. Not all upgrades are "backwards compatible." iPod | Phone | 4:14| To Embed or Email: click on "Menu." One of my favorite Hawaiian words is kuleana. I love the sound of it and I love the meaning of it. It basically means to take care of your "business." It seems so instinctual to blame others for our problems, but really, there is little hope in that! Much easier to pick up the pieces and to change ourselves than to wait around for others to make us happy. That's not to say you can't hold others accountable; indeed that's appropriate. I am talking about the knee-jerk blame response - let's unplug from that old one. Hawaiian word: Kuleana: responsibility, business P S We are trying a new video platform this week, Viddler. Barack Obama has a big fan base in Hawaii and he should have considering he was born in the Aloha State. A give away of the Lil’ Aloha Babies Waves n Wonders DVD by Local Girl Productions is announced, new music from Alison Chu off her newest CD Kuhio Bay is featured in todays show and the first mention of Podcamp Hawaii is also discussed with more to follow. One of the striking things is how committed Guy is to delivering consistently high quality blog posts to his thousands of readers. Yet he shared with us some challenges he is facing, wanting genuine feedback from his readers. On the other hand, we had some not so good service on a recent trip. In Waikiki at the corner of Kapahulu and Kalakaua, extends this beautiful jetty simply called The Waikiki Wall. It s a favorite local spot that s been around for decades and is popular for boogie boarders and the occasional jump off the wall. On July 4th we spent our day hanging out in Waikiki soaking up the sun and catching some of the latest action at the wall. While this is a beautiful place to enjoy some fun in the sun and a splash in the water, we CAUTION you that it is very DANGEROUS to jump off the wall and to boogie board here due to the shallow waters that surround the wall. In fact if you do take a visit to the wall, you ll notice how the more knowledgeable locals wait for a wave to come in before jumping off the wall. Despite the dangers it is still one of the best places around for some genuine ocean fun, so be sure and pay it a visit! June 19, 2008

iPod | Phone | 4:11 Last week Barack Obama launched a new web site Fight the Smears to be able to respond to false attacks and politically-motivated slurs. It reminds of FactCheck.org which is a non-partisan site run by the Annenberg Foundation. In the old days, someone could start a rumor or make a claim and it was very difficult to combat it. Once it made it onto the airways, where media and communication was in the hands of a very few, one bad story could make or break a person. Not anymore. Bloggers and journalists alike can put forth their own view of the "facts" and more than ever we can choose whom to believe and support. I like that. iPod | Phone | 4:52 A new social web application I've been playing with called Plurk has a feature called karma points. You earn points by inviting people to join, posting messages, etc. In other words, you earn good karma by promoting their service. I find it irritating, and was discussing this with David Beaudoin, and such was the inspiration for this episode. I find karma to be a concept that mis-places blame where none is due, induces guilt when consciousness is more useful, and confuses genuine feedback aka cause and effect from any given situation with shoulds and should nots. What do you think about karma? Otherwise, Plurk has some nice features, including a graphical timeline and threaded conversations. We have a new embed player for the Flash version on the site. June 16, 2008

iPod | Phone It's a Monday update on my learning to manage all of my To Do's. After a few weeks, I have some very stale items still on the board. Some of them are understandably longer term items, like house remodel tasks. I am working on moving them out of the way, so their place on the board makes sense. But then there are other personal items that I am just plain avoiding! The board is really helping me see how I favor client work over all else in my life. I also realize how much discipline it takes to do the list items first and foremost. We have a new embed player for the Flash version on the site. Please give us your feedback on it. June 09, 2008

In this episode I get to mix my two podcasts. In October 2007 the Disney Company announced that they were going to put in a Disney Vacation Club resort in Hawaii. I took my camera out to the Ko Olina resort where the DVC is going to be built and take a look at the location. Nothing going on out there at the moment, but in 2011, the expected opening year, there will be another 800+ rooms on this site. This is big for Oahu in that it is estimated that they will create about 1000 jobs with the building of this resort. With a number of people that commute into urban Honolulu from the west side of the island, the addition of these jobs is expected to have a big impact for that side of the island. Come with me as we explore Disneys Hawaii DVC. Please leave a rating in the i-tunes store
