a small new mexico town prepares for the funeral of a larger-than-life political legend - and a visit from one of his best pals - a former president of the united states. stuart dyson reports from moriarty - where bruce king's funeral will take place tomorrow - with bill clinton there to say goodbye. " generations of kings have attended school in moriarty - many of them playing sports right here in the high school gym - this is where they had funeral services for bruce's wife alice last december - tomorrow president clinton is going to be sitting right there in that row." final preparations to convert the moriarty pintos' basketball court into an extra- large size funeral parlor -a labor of love dedicated to a man whose life was extra-large. bruce king never moved away from the nearby family ranch - except to serve in the army in world war two and serve three terms as governor in santa fe - now the local folks will give him a proper send-off. " this is an honor for us - we don't look at it as taxing - we'll bring out every available resource to make sure bruce king is rembered in the way he should be - as an icon in new mexico - and that the king family has their day." the high school gym has seating for 12 hundred on the floor - with hundreds more on the bench seats along the sides. " we were asked by the king family to host the funeral service and of course we were very happy to do that because the king family is near and dear to our hearts - they're very much a part of the community - and everybody loves the family." the cowboy governor attended many a pintos game in this gym - and on the football field next door - now he'll be back one last time - so the people who knew him best and loved him can say goodbye. " funeral services are scheduled to start at ten a.m. promptly - looks like the doors are going to open about eight - and once this gym reaches capacity - that's it - nobody else is going to get in - in moriarty stuart dyson eyewitness news four." bruce king will be buried next to his wife alice in the cemetery at stanley - the tiny crossroads settlement near the king brothers ranch a few miles from moriarty.

Thanksgiving is less than a week away. If you haven't already started shopping for your turkey and fixings you may want to, especially since food prices are dropping... The American Farm Bureau releases its annual Thanksgiving dinner costs. The average cost for a ten-person dinner is forty-two dollars and ninety-one cents. That's down four-percent from last year. (Sarah Wilson/Young Farmers and Ranchers Program Coordinator) "There is a lot of different factors, factor into that. At the farm level, farmers only receive 23 cents of every food dollar in America and we in the U.S., we spend the least amount of disposable income no food of any nation in the world. So we are very very fortunate and we have a lot to give thanks for that we have farmers and ranchers that are producing such affordable and safe and wholesome food for our country." The American Farm Bureau looks at the cost of several items when it does this study. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pumpkin pie and milk are just some of the things that make the shopping list. (Sarah Wilson/Young Farmers and Ranchers Program Coordinator) "Milk is now just around 3 dollars a gallon and that was part of the decrease in the 4-percent decrease in the Thanksgiving meal this year." Back in 1986, when the study was first released, it cost 28-dollars and 74-cents to feed ten people on Thanksgiving.

a top candidate to become bernalillo county sheriff is speaking out tonight. a-p-d commander conrad candelaria is upset about a letter written by a retired air national guard colonel. the letter questions candelaria's brief military stint ... and it was sent to county commissioners. jeremy jojola got his hands on that letter and is here with what candelaria has to say about it. jeremy. this email i stirring up a lot of emotions. that retired national guard colonel says candelaria is spreading "falsehoods" about his time in the guard. candelaria calls the whole letter dirty politics. as darren white leaves behind his sheriff's job next month for his new gig as the city's public safety chief----the county commission has to pick his replacement. one of the men who wants the job is conrad candelaria--a 25 year veteran of the albuquerque police department who's been serving as commander for e last six years. but an email sent to county commissioners wednesday questions candelaria's integrity while serving in the national guard. the email says after candelaria completed basic training in 2005, he ignored an order to report for officer candidate school. retired colonel howard thevenet tells the commission in the email "conrad candelaria had a "wake up call" of sorts, perhaps in basic traing. in any case, he did not report to fort benning as ordered." thevenet would not talk on camera about the letter with us, but candelaria did this morning. "obviously his facts are very distorted. i have to wonder if someone, maybe take into account is there someone pushing to do this." candelaria explains he never went to officer candidate school because he was never approved to do so in the first place because he was too old. he also dismisses thevenets claims, saying the retired colonel doesn't have access to his military records. "maybe you want to call this the dirty side of politics. i don't know what it is, but i'm not going to allow these disparaging comments, these false rumors, these false statements to discourage me in anyway. " the national guard would not comment on the letter saying it's the opinion of a retired colonel. the guard says it can not tell us if an order was disobeyed because that's part of a personal military file. candelaria says he would open up his file to the commission if asked. county commissioners may decide on a new sheriff next week -- but county law requires them to conduct their official vote on november 30th. that's because sheriff darren white's resignation officially goes into effect at five p-m that day. commissioners can't appoint a new sheriff if someone already holds the office.. so commissioners will hold their official vote at 5:01
