After a long week last week, our two morning anchors, Megan and Justin got all giddy during a commercial spot while off air. I was in the editing bay watching the show and was lucky enough to pull out my camera, shoot at the monitor and catch this moment as it happened. It s been a really hard year for Iowans. Beatings from tornados and floods over the past few months have really taken their toll. In Cedar Rapids, our Freedom Festival, where the majority of us go to watch fireworks and celebrate July 4th every year had to be cancelled this year. CBS 2 News and the Kernels teamed up to celebrate the 4th of July and raise money for flood victims. Other formats available: Quicktime (.mov)

Water rose up way too close to us earlier. It went back down later but now the skies have just opened up again and it s raining hard, hailing on us and a tornado warning. We are just not catching any breaks here in Cedar Rapids at all today.

Cedar Rapids Evacuation

Just a short little grouping of videos today. I had to do some work down in one of the evacuation areas in Cedar Rapids. Just after I shot these scenes, they closed the bridges to get into downtown Cedar Rapids. It made for a hasty retreat south of the city. Other formats available: Quicktime (.mov)
