It is usually a result of a blood clot in the leg (DVT) that broke loose and traveled into the lungs via circulation. About half the people who have pulmonary embolism do not show any symptoms, but clinical manifestations include shortness of breath, chest pain or coughing up blood. Treatment is aimed at breaking up the blood clots and preventing formation of new clots. The most important thing that can be done in the prehospital setting is to transport the patient to a hospital. As long as no reliable method is available of making a clinical diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) without diagnostic tests, treating PE in a meaningful way in the field will remain difficult. Emergency interventions are aimed at respiratory management and establishment of an IV line. MAJOR ACCIDENT CLOSES 105

MAJOR ACCIDENT CLOSES 105

from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) on November 06, 2009
Duration: 55
Just minutes after 8 pm Montgomery County units responded to a major accident at SH105 and Douget. Units arrived to find a blazer had been struck by a Chevrolet pickup head on in the center turn lane. In addition to that when the Blazer was struck it in turn hit to other Dodge trucks. The female driver of the Blazer was transported to Herman Woodlands hospital. Her three occupants were also transported to area hospitals. The driver of the pickup was westbound on 105 according to DPS driving in and out of traffic. He drove down the center turn lane where the Blazer was waiting to turn into the grocery store parking lot. The driver was transported to Herman Hospital in Houston in critical condition by PHI Air Medical Med 1. The occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries and did not require transport to the hospital. Highway 105 was closed for over two hours as the investigation continued. DPS was assisted by three Montgomery County Sheriff's units. DPS is looking at the possibility alcohol was a factor in accident. The resulting crash also destroyed a highway memorial marker from a fatal accident on October 18, 2007.

TWO VICTIMS TRAPPED AS POWER LINES FALL ON VEHICLE

Two victims were trapped in a pickup truck on Tejas Drive shortly before midnight tonight. The truck came around a curve, skid sideway striking a power pole with the passenger door. When Lake Conroe Fire Department arrived they found live power lines over the truck. Unable to gain access due to the live electricity they, MCHD and officers were forced to wait until Mid South Electric arrived on the scene to cut the power. Once the power was cut the real work began with the firefighters. Just about every tool on the truck was used to free the male and female victims from the vehicle. Over all it was almost one hour before they wre completely out of the vehicle. Most of the time was due to the power but firefighters were met with a real challenge to pry and cut the victims free. Due to fog moving into the area Phi Air Medical and Lifeflight were both unable to fly. The female was taken in critical condition to Herman Hospital at the Medical Center Her male companion was taken to
