Just When I Thought by Holworks Written by Mark Holman Just when I thought my life had turned topsy-turvy or more succinctly rock bottom, I found a way to endure through someones help. What happens when you reach the ledge of sacrifice to discover a sprawling abyss? How does one avoid the sure fall into the unknown and uncomfortable? Why should there be such a risk? I wrote Just When I Thought in 1997 as a result of meeting someone I thought I would marry. It is a long story but after the Blue Opal, Brown Goddess and O Isis adventures, I was completely ready to make it work long term with someone I felt could be my soul mate. How does loneliness play into decisions of the heart? Do you just run with it when it feels right? Most would and I was in the majority. Just When I Thought is that first breath past infatuation that spreads into romantic possibility. It is that, am I ready for this? Thank you so much for saving me feeling that can only come when desperation exceeds rational thought. The obvious salvation metaphor permeates the song as does life without the sun which is impossible for life as we know it. Having found inspiration in one perceived an equal or above due to resources, mode of cognitive thought, or evolution is a lifeline of hope that is unexpectedly delivered with no perceived expectations. It is the Pygmalion reconstruction of a person into an unrealized level of personal growth. Just When I Thought extends to the my life depends upon you in an unperceived one way emotion. Just as the capacity to care extends to animals it is given to people too. It is getting the attention of those with the capacity to help that is most difficult. Is it for the one who screams the loudest? Is it only for the beautiful? Or is it as Tom Petty puts it, Even the losers get lucky sometime. Whatever it was, the hand was given and I accepted, put my life back on track, and learned the wisdom behind the loneliness. Just When I Thought - M. For Our Soldiers For Our Soldiers is my prayer for all of our troops serving our country in a foreign land. Bring them home. It is time to worry about us, not the world. I should hope as I begin bringing you some facts about this song that I do not enrage or cause any discomfort as this is a topic I feel very strongly about. I do have the credentials to feel strongly about it. I have served in the military. My brothers served in the military. My father started it all as he was a career Special Forces soldier. So, because I have seen families torn apart because of death, children who grow into adults wounded from the suffering they had to endure in our childhood, and constant reminders in the Community I live, I feel I have a right to say enough is enough. It is finished. Terrorism can only be stopped through ideas communicated through TRUTH. Do our diplomats not know this? Guns will not do it. We have to communicate and thrive in our alliances. Since the US is the WORLD, (we have more people here that were not born here than any other country), isnt there a way we can spread LOVE to all those people who remain in their abandoned country not fortunate enough to immigrate somewhere else, (like the USA)? There are no easy answers. OK then, my song is to let you guys and gals who wear the uniform know that I support you 10000000% as I know you are doing your job and that job may require you to give everything you have just like many of the fathers of my friends growing up as a child. It could have been me. It could have been my father or my brothers. We are fortunate. Many are not. I could look all my life for one to be my wife, so Honey, tell me, am I dreaming? Ok, well I actually wrote this song a couple months ago for a local Country Band. For whatever reason, it was never used so I went ahead and recorded it as I want this song to be a part of Carolina Commons even if it is new. I think it could be at least a Top 10 Country song with the right inflection and vocal. I also hope it will be one we will work on as a group to bring that special Holworks sound to it. I must be dreaming when the one person I thought was unreachable suddenly is available and even willing for an encounter. How nice is that? Well, it certainly will require a pinch on the cheek. What constitutes a dream? How does the heart decide who we should love? Is it that sudden realization that anything is possible? How could one mismatch with another to such extremes as to be made for one another? I Must Be Dreaming address these questions on a subliminal level as we go through the story of a lonely man who has suddenly discovered the possibility of a long term relationship with someone he adores but is so out of reach in his eyes. I hint at a vast socioeconomic gap between them yet her actions and desires lead straight to him. Now he wants nothing more than to solidify his feelings and move forward into eternity with her, the owner of the coin. It is common to use easy imagery to convey complex ideas. The search for a life long mate means that there is a lot of thought and feeling going into the search process. There are also some negatives that do not lend to coupling but the hope that it can occur is prevalent. That there was an encounter says that if it is like this now, what happens if we really join forces?
