Would Hulu consider a paid subscription model? YouTube is going to start allowing long-form content (videos above 30 minutes). Scoble thinks they want to insert advertising in the longer stuff. We agree. Gary Vaynerchuk s Wine Library TV moves over to Revision3. Verizon will be pushing its FiOS service to 50 mbps downstream, 20 mbps upstream. For $139.95 a month! Gene Simmons (yes, that Gene Simmons) thinks that Radiohead, the internets, p2p - and the FANS - are killing the recording industry. EMI is not only suing MP3Tunes.com, but its founder, Michael Robertson, personally. Microsoft has decided to support MSN Music customers (and the related DRM) until - at least - the end of 2011. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Yahoo earnings grow 9%; Microsoft earnings down. Maybe they should focus, eh? Apple earnings up. Mac sales up 40% and the iPhone is still selling strong. AT T seeems waaaay behind in its rollout of its 3G wireless network. Could that be why Apple waited to release a 3G iPhone? Verizon s rollout of EV-DO is so much more compelling. We discuss Apple s release of a CDMA iPhone at some point in the future. Japan? U.S. grey market? DOH! Microsoft discontinues DRM support for music purchased from MSN Music. Microsoft should read Seth Godin s Small is the New Big. The Death Knell sounds for the MSN Spot Watch Sony buys GraceNote for $260 million. Buzz Out Loud 709: We're gonna need a bigger cloud
from Buzz Out Loud from CNET April 23, 2008
We explain Live Mesh, the Ninth Circuit tries to explain why customs can search your laptop without any reason at all, and eBay (yawn) sues Craigslist over some (yawn) stock stuff. Also, Apple buys a chip-maker and that story leads to wild speculation about chips and such. No, really. It's a tech show. Haven't you heard this show before?
