MommyCast Movie Pick: The Blind Side!

from MommyCast on November 25, 2009
Duration: 0
Going to a movie this week?  The Blind Side has to be the one you see!  Paige and I both saw this movie and LOVED it!  It is one of the best movies of the year and the perfect family movie for the Thanksgiving holiday.  But it isn t fluff. There is real substance here and I can only hope that everyone else has the opportunity to see it. Leigh Anne Tuohy took a chance and acted on her instincts as a mother. She made a difference in the life of a young person. We should all hope for an experience such as this. The movie was well done, well directed and well acted. Sandra Bullock was fantastic! And, surprise! Tim McGraw knocked my socks off. He was REALLY good! Go. See It! You won t be disappointed! Watch the featurette on our website and look for show #391 we interview the mom behind the story, Leigh Anne Tuohy!

MommyCast Show #383: Families in Harmony

A recent USA Today article by Sharon Jayson claims that families are more in harmony now then ever before.  Certainly since the Boomers were kids.  Paige and I discuss this fascinating article which compares today s families to the discord endured by families in the 60s and 70s.  How s your family harmony doing?  Thanks to Dixie for sponsoring our show! Today s Asthma Tip:  Grass and tree pollen are common spring asthma triggers.  Try to keep young children with asthma indoors on those dry, hot, windy days.  Keeping windows closed and using an air conditioner may also be helpful.  Visit www.AsthmaTRACKTest.com to learn more about common asthma triggers. MommyCast Show #382: Staying on Top of Teens

from MommyCast on August 26, 2009
Duration: 0
Paige and I now have three teens between us.  *Sigh*  Aside from the fact they have grown up way too fast, we are now faced with the MOST difficult stage of parenting (our opinion).  I liken it to the end of a long race.  We are in the home stretch and either you kick it into high gear, or you lose.  Problem is, we re TIRED!  And, we don t see a lot of other parents of teens offering much advice.  I think they are too busy trying to win the race to blog about it!  Seems like there could be more commiserating out there!  Thanks to Dixie for sponsoring our show! Asthma Tip of the Day! Have you completed your TRACK test yet!  TRACK is a simple tool caregivers can use to help determine if their child s breathing problems are under control.  Remember TRACK is for all young kids with frequent respiratory problems, not just those who have been formally diagnosed with asthma.  If a child scores 80 or less on TRACK then their breathing problems may not be under control.  Try it out at www.asthmaTRACKtest.com and talk to your child s doctor about the results. Paige has just completed not one, but two trips to Ohio. In a car. With all of the kids. She survived, thankfully! And now she is preparing for the family trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Phew! She s going to need a vacation from her vacation! Our song is Not Sick of Summer by I Am Three. Thanks to Dixie for sponsoring our show! Today s Asthma Tip: Although 80 percent of children with asthma demonstrate symptoms before age 5, there are limitations to objective lung function tests for children in this age group, making it difficult to asses respiratory and asthma control in young children. Now parents can use the simple TRACK test to help determine if their child s breathing problems are under control. Download TRACK at www.AsthmaTRACKtest.com.
