Imam Ali `Ibin Abi Talib was the successor to Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon them both. Sun Sun Zalima Performers: Guru Dutt, Shyama Singers: Mohammad Rafi, Geeta Dutt Film: Aar-Paar, 1954 Starring: Shyama, Guru Dutt, Johnny Walker, Shakila, Jagdeep Guru Dutt was always known for his song picturisations in the movies he directed, and how he integrated the songs into the plot. Here he gets out of the studio and into a real garage, with a car as the centerpiece for the man/woman tug-of-war. This is one of my top half-dozen favorite songs. Shyama was, in my opinion, one of Indian film's great beauties. Even in her overalls and pigtails, and with all the nasty faces she's making, she is breathtakingly lovely. Unfortunately for her, she was working at the same time as the greatest beauty of all - Madhubala - and was usually relegated to working in B-Films. Aar-Paar is probably the best film in which she had a starring role - this and Barsaat Ki Raat where she has third billing. She did win a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress award for Sharada with Raj Kapoor and Meena Kumari, but I didn't like that film much.
