This is a great chillout mix from Suzuki and the Hoverdroids our man in Montreal.. I rocked this mix in my car the whole way to Vancouver last weekend. It s a chill mixtape that has a new school Mark Farina Mushroom Jazz feel to it. It is littered with samples from the movie Lost in Translation.. thus the name Suntory Time .. It s got a great selection of tunes including some originals from Suzuki himself. I ll keep bugging him for a tracklisting, in the meantime enjoy DJViBE s latest Mixtape. I remember reading about this cut in a Bun B interview, I think, and the dude was right this song goes really hard. Anyone who s been listening to rap for more than a week or so knows that some songs just sort of go in one ear and out the other, and others really feel like someone s sitting you down and telling you something and you have to listen. Another previously unreleased jawn. Okay, so this is the song I was talking about in the intro. Let me be clear up front I thought twice about putting this out because I didn t know if people would be able to see past the language here. However that s actually not even the point here, because if you actually listen closely to the story as it plays out and if you listen closely to some of the clues dude drops in the middle e.g. it really was about who was the baddest is a big one you ll see what Freddie, regardless of whatever homophobic issues dude is dealing with personally, is actually talking about here (hint: it s in the title). So for the few who didn t know, St Ides was running this massive campaign to get as many dark people to drink malt liquor as possible back in the 90s, and a lot of rappers happily signed on. The scary thing is that a lot of these tracks there s around like 30 of them including videos for 2 that I know of were really great. This is only one of them. Ich habe lange hin und her überlegt, ob ich diesen Beitrag schreiben soll, da die Musik, über die ich schreiben möchte, etwas auf dem gewohntem musikalischen Rahmen der Blogrebellen fallen. Aber schließlich muss gute Musik gebloggt werden: Los geht es mir einem sehr deepen und intensiven filmmusikalisch gewordenen Traum aus Dubstep und Drum n Bass. Ich tue mich zwar mit dem ersten, doch sehr trääncigem Track etwas schwer, aber danach nimmt der Mix richtig Fahrt auf. Dieser Mix Podcast stammt von digitalgewitter und gefunden habe ich ihn bei realvinylz. [See post to listen to audio] Tracklist / download Der nächste elektronische Joint kommt von einem bekannten Österreicher, den viele wohl eher durch seine Downbeat- und Trip-Hop Produktionen und Mixe bekannt ist: Peter Kruder. Sein aktuelles Mixtape kommt allerdings eher elektronisch/technoid daher, was das ganze für viele aber sicher nicht uninteressanter macht. Höre selbst und entscheide, ob ihr zusammen passt! Ehrlich gesagt wusste ich bis gestern nichts über seine aktuellen Produktionen. Nun bin ich aber auf einen Mitschnitt eines Live-Auftritts aufmerksam geworden, den man sich einmal genauer ansehen und hören sollte. Zusammen mit analogen Instrumenten spielenden Musikern steht Laurent Garnier auf der Bühne und schraubt an seinen elektronischen Geräten herum. Bis zum Break gefällt mir das auch richtig gut, nur danach komme ich nicht mehr ran. Nichtsdestotrotz ist es dieser Mitschnitt Wert hier gezeigt zu werden. Entscheide selbst: Foto von Alex Brown
