RZ#146 - Six Song Donut Spectacular: May 2008
from RadioZoom May 15, 2008
John is back for a super special Six Song with a theme. In fact it s so special, there are actually seven songs for your listening pleasure. Dandy Warhols - Mohammed, Nietzche Local H - How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Rock, 500,000 Scovilles, What Can I Tell You Less Than Jake - Motto, History of a Boring Town And yes, I produced this episode hence the many many seconds of non-speaking at the beginning. But hey, I don t claim to be a radio professional by any means eh. Thank goodness for podcasting.

RZ#145 - New Music West Interview and Preview
from RadioZoom April 09, 2008
For the last 18 years the New Music West festival has been a centerpiece for independent music, musicians, and industry professionals in Vancouver. I was able to contact Jory Groberman from 29 Productions (the folks who made New Music West possible for the last few years) and chat a bit about what s in store. What s also pretty cool is that they re handing me a media pass for the event(s) so watch for more announcements and coverage in the month ahead.

RZ#144 - Girl on Girl on Ferry
from RadioZoom March 03, 2008
I (Rebecca) take the helm of Episode #144 as I capture, edit and publish the audio I recorded with Keira-Anne a few weeks ago during a weekend jaunt to Vancouver Island. We put the call out on our blogs for questions - any questions and were very pleased with the overwhelming response. [Keira-Anne][Miss604] Photo by: Keira-Anne on Flickr This is actually part one and we re uncertain when the raw, uncut part two will be released. So for now, enjoy the sounds of a BC Ferry, and two girls who are super excited to hit the powder up on Mt. Washington. Flying blind with a case of the Mondays I just wanted to crank out an episode and play some kickin tunes. On top of featuring artists who all have concerts in town this month, I prepared some Vancouver trivia for John in honor of his 2 year Vancouver anniversary , which is just around the corner. RZ #138 - Six Song Donut Spectacular: August 2007
from RadioZoom August 31, 2007
I, Rebecca, join John for this late, but better-late-than-never , episode of RadioZoom as we dedicate #138 to entirely Can-Con. What s Can-Con you ask? Well tune right in while we educate the masses about how broadcasters in Canada are required by law to give Canadian artists and Canadian produced music 35% of their airplay. We one-up these regulations and churn out 100% Canadian content and share six awesome tracks. Thanks so much to Matthew Good for allowing us to kick off with tunes from his newly-released album, and to the other artists linked below whose music we found on IODA Promonet and the Podsafe Music Network. from RadioZoom July 29, 2007

RZ#133 - Again from Stanley Park; Dandy Warhols coming to Vancouver; On Lions Gate Bridge; Dinner at Olympia; Impromptu Vancouver Trivia
from RadioZoom May 22, 2007
Hello. We re back. Yes, we re still here, and you re along for another adventure into Stanley Park. We stop to give you some subtle updates of what has gone on since the last, real episode, and there are a handful of more artists that have granted permission to play their music on our podcast. Since we re on the go in this entire episode, we don t talk about the music as much as we explore the park. We even try to suck it up and actually walk out onto Lions Gate Bridge, the fear of heights being fairly strong for both of us. We end the day with some Vancouver Trivia back at home. Also, if you dig the tracks by The Dandy Warhols, check out their show at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver if you in the area on June 1st, 2007. RZ #130 - Sparta at The Commodore; Interview with Keeley Davis
from RadioZoom April 05, 2007
Man do we ever love a good rock show. When I heard Sparta was coming back into town I immediately arranged another interview. Not only are we huge fans, but the guys in the band are so talented and down to earth. A couple of weeks later, the band rolled through town and played none other than the Fabulous Commodore Ballroom here in Vancouver. Jim Ward, subject of our last interview, was under the weather but when we went back stage and saw Keeley and were not disappointed. It was great to talk to the latest member of the band, contributor on their new album Threes, hear about his side projects and impressions of our fair city. RZ#128 - Guinness widget; Northern Voice 2007; Vancouver Podcast Meetup; Flickr fun
from RadioZoom March 02, 2007
I ran around the apartment with my minidisc and microphone to record this one. Rebecca was preparing to head over to the island for the weekend with some of her family(girls only), so I followed her around while spouting off about various topics. I tore into a can of Guinness to find out what those things they put in there look like, we give our review on the Northern Voice conference that occurred last weekend, and give a roundup to the Vancouver Podcast Meetup that Mark Blevis, of the Canadian Podcast Buffet, put together last Sunday. Other hilarities included. from RadioZoom February 20, 2007
There s really a lot that we talked about in this episode, so much that we only threw three songs into this one. Rebecca gives a review of her Amazing Hunt experience, we cover a variety of things coming up, look ahead to NorthernVoice 2007, there s a podcast meetup in Vancouver, and we round it out with Vancouver Trivia. There were a variety of technical issues in this as well, but I didn t edit it out. RZ#125 - Northern Voice; Amazing Hunt; Matthew Good
from RadioZoom January 26, 2007
Rebecca and I gather in the studio to record this episode before the puck drops on a Canucks game. Of course, if you want to hear more of the hockey talk, check out The Crazy Canucks. In this episode, we talk about the Northern Voice conference and try to make our case to the organizers of the event as to why we deserve one of the travel bursaries to attend the event. We also talk about Rebecca s upcoming involvement with the Amazing Hunt in Vancouver. Matthew Good has a new album that he s recording, and your dear hosts have a few other tidbits to share in that area. Links to check out: Northern Voice Travis Smith Darren Barefoot Why Do You Blog? RZ#123 - Rebecca’s Birthday; Donations; Olympic Village; Vancouver Trivia
from RadioZoom January 11, 2007
Our first episode back in the studio after quite a while. We ve been having too much fun with the video podcasts, so it s about time that we got back into the groove of the strictly audio world. We recorded this just ahead of watching the Canucks play on TV, so you ll hear the sound of glass bottles clink in the background just a little bit. We ll leave it up to you to figure out what s inside of them. I m posting this during the second intermission, so I ll make this brief. RZ Video Podcast #10 - Forbidden Stanley Park Trek
from RadioZoom January 03, 2007
We ve walked around the Park several times since it was closed several weeks ago [audihertz] after a storm with hurricane-force winds blasted its way through. Understandably shut off to public due to the branches, debris and fallen trees that litter the landscape to such a degree that upon beholding the devastation, a lump forms in your throat. Mother Nature sure did a number on the place. Yesterday local news was reporting that the Park had been re-opened [cbc], mostly because of the loss in tourist revenue. Stanley Park Drive, the perimeter road, was opened up although several trails were still closed off to the public. We decided to walk around one of the barriers blocking our favourite, and most frequently traveled trail. The video documents our finds. This is another video attempt with the Nokia 6682 camera phone, so if you have any comments on the quality (and even the content) please let us know in the comment section. Run time 20:07

RZ Video Podcast #9 - Coal Harbour with the camera phone
from RadioZoom December 29, 2006
On a whim, we found ourselves downtown yesterday and couldn t resist taking a walk down by the water before heading home. With the Nokia in my pocket, we made this video to put it into a podcast. It was a gorgeous day as the sun was setting on Vancouver. Be sure to leave feedback on these vids we ve been making with our cellphones. I know that the quality might be slightly lacking, but it s so easy to make them. Turn around is quick and not very painful. We ll probably keep doing little vids like this from time to time, so I hope you don t mind seeing our faces once and a while. 7:37 minutes radiozoom.net

RZ Video Podcast #8 - Cruising in the car with the camera phone
from RadioZoom December 24, 2006
This is a major experiment with cellphone technology to do a video podcast. Not the best quality in the world, but in a pinch, this Nokia can do some nice stuff. Leave comments and do your worst. I told you we d do something before Christmas, and this is coming in right under the wire. We were driving around, checking out the festive lights in the area, so I had the idea to make this vid while we made our way back home from Christmas Eve gatherings. A year in review, hopes for the new year, and other various things that I can t remember. Watch it to find out. We have Christmas things to enjoy right now. Best wishes this holiday!

RZ#121 - Christmas cheer; Music and interviews; Listener feedback; Vancouver Trivia
from RadioZoom December 11, 2006
Coming back after being away for nearly two weeks, Rebecca and I sit down in the studio to get caught up on our podcasting duties. Illnesses and business aside, we re back with a variety of topics while sitting down to record without any plan. Christmas is upon us, and we re getting a gift from Aberdeen City, which is awesome. There is also some discussion of Christmas shopping and what it takes to send presents back to the U.S. We ve received some great feedback from listeners about some of the interviews we ve been doing. Unfortunately, our interview with Wintersleep did not happen, but maybe next time. We do take some time to thank those who have submitted feedback about the podcasts we ve been putting out there and comment about our music related interviews in general. Rebecca also got a great chance to interview a member of The Could Room and talks about the very cool opportunity. Also check out this month s edition of Vancouver Trivia to see how well John knows the city. RZ#113 - Hockey Talk: Canucks Hockey Blog (canuckshockey.blogspot.com)
from RadioZoom September 25, 2006
Download Standard Podcast A Skype interview with blogger J.J. Guerrero from the Canucks Hockey Blog, Rebecca and I learn more about the guy behind the blog, why he loves the Vancouver Canucks, and gather some insights about the team. The other interesting thing to note about J.J. is that he worked at GM Place for about nine years as an usher. He has a lot of knowledge about the team other that just loving the guys like we do. We don t spend a lot of time setting up the episode because it really speaks for itself. If you dig hockey, then you ll really enjoy this one. RZ#110 - Vandigicam Flickr Group: Portrait Throw Down Meetup
from RadioZoom September 05, 2006
Download Standard Podcast I was invited to join the Vandigicam Flickr Group on their Portrait Throw Down III meetup that gathered in English Bay on August 30, 2006. Vancouver photographer, Rachael Ashe, contacted me with the idea that this event that she was leading would make for interesting podcast material. The location and people apart of the group were an excellent setting for documenting what a Vandigicam gathering is like. Rebecca joined me but participated in the photo-festivities while I ran around with a microphone. Yet another adventure into the people that make up Vancouver, and here is a portion of those people who share a passion for getting behind the lense. I would love to have linked to everyone s Flickr accounts that I met at the meetup. Gladly and unfortunately, there were just way too many people to recall nor would it be fair to list the few people I do recall while forgetting the rest. If you were there, feel free to post a comment with a link to your photos. Regardless, it was great meeting everyone!
