The Garden of Eden
from - blip.tv (beta) June 21, 2007
As Semere Gedion, a born and bred Arba Minch resident, gave me a guided tour of the view from the Swaynes Hotel, I couldn't help but think of the biblical Garden of Eden. Nature was everywhere, untouched...and it all sounded and smelt almost prehistoric. It made me visualize some of our oldest ancestors like Lucy (Dinknesh) walking around collecting fruits and hunting gazelles.Henok A.

The City of Arba Minch
from - blip.tv (beta) June 19, 2007
Recently, I traveled to the Southern city of Arba Minch. It has been on my list for a long time and I was very eager to visit. Arba Minch did not disappoint at all. It is quite possibly the greenest part of Ethiopia with highly fertile farms and roadside kids selling fresh fruits at throw away prices. As always, I took my camera so you can share our good fortune with us. Arba Minch is still a small city. At 500 km from Addis Ababa, the recent urban boom that has engulfed many Ethiopian cities appears to have just reached it. While things are still very slow in town, one can see small changes starting to take place. If you ever decide to travel to this beautiful corner of Ethiopia, definately make sure to stock up on lots of film; I ran out of tape after recording for 3 hours. Henok A.
