All these clips were taken on August 1st: which was the day Erica and I were shown the heart of Ypsilanti... the day we first tried to record our Vimeo long-portrait submissions... the day we wandered around one of the old university buildings after hours... and other various and random things that I didn't get on camera. A few weeks ago it was Erica and I's two year thingy :) we spent the morning wandering around the Botanical Gardens together in Ann Arbor (like we did last year vimeo.com/1576373 ) Then later in the day we went to see GI Joe with Xander... which was slightly less entertaining then I thought it might be (and I had low-expectations) :P I added in some other shots that I had in iMovie... things from the last few months... some of the shots are already in other video here on Vimeo, but I added them all the same. And yes, I realize this video and the previous video both end with the same shot. I mean, they are different moments from the same day / location. But still. Nothing to see here, move along. (I was clearing out space in iMovie and didn't want to completely trash these clips... I figured I would upload this and, maybe, someone would recognize this warehouse and find at least the connection interesting. Otherwise, there's nothing exciting to see, nothing that jumps out from behind a graffiti covered wall... just an old, empty warehouse that used to be an important part of a lot of different people's lives in Ypsi.) Erica and I went out at 2 in the morning to take an Ypsi portrait for a post she was writing on ypsi.tumblr.com - I got to help out with her fancy camera and cool lights. We ended up going out the night after this to take a 2nd set of photos, because these turned out to be a bit too not-happy'ish. On a side-note: this is my first 5x5. Erica's track-pad has been slowly acting up more and more the last 4 months. So we went into the Apple store to get the whole track-pad / keyboard piece replaced :P I was excited to play with a new iPhone :) also it was very, very cold in the store. Cast: mike ambs ☂, erica hampton

I was in Ypsi when the Michigan Design Militia put on it's 1st Shadow Art Fair - it was called that because it takes place immediately after Ann Arbor's massive almost-a-week long art fair (in the shadow of)... After that, I was always in LA when the SAF was taking place... they have two a year, one in the summer, and one just before x-mas. I was crazy excited to be around this summer for the Art Fair - so I asked, Mark Maynard, one of the co-founders of MIDMI, if any of the vendors would mind me taping the day. This is the video I made :P it was just me all day, so I sadly missed a lot of the awesome bands that played in the brewery's backyard... next time I'll have to team up with someone to make sure I cover everything. I overheard several people during the day saying that this year's SAF was one of the best that they'd been to. I was really happy to be a part of it. Sorry this took so long to upload - I recorded this friday afternoon, and wasn't able to edit it while in Kentucky like I'd hoped :P But here it is - just an update on how I've been combing through the footage for the trip and making sense of it. I know, I know :P why in the $#&% is this video 20 minutes long!? I was tired, I didn't realized how much I was rambling. And I was way too busy today with other things to spend time cutting it down to something more appropriate. Like 30-some seconds. For the 3 of you who actually sit through half of it, thank you. For the rest, all you're missing out on is something jumped on me in my sleep. And I don't know what else to call it except a ghost. It's really been messing with my head. Cast: mike ambs ☂

Up late logging footage and watching 8 1/2...

64 days was the exact length of Pedal's production, the number of days we were out on the road. It feels really exciting to be releasing episodes again, I've been editing and filming the last few nights till 5 in the morning, and although it's been hell on my cold, I've had a blast doing it. I'm anxious to get started on part 2 - when Amanda and I originally began writing the production related episodes, we were expecting to fit everything into 3 cuts. But that doesn't look to be the case any longer - we're finding we have a lot more to say, and many different layers of the whole experience to cover. We'd love to hear your feedback - it will help greatly in deciding what questions to answer in what order. Thanks for watching.
