The Mind's Eye #3: Dreams True and False

The Mind's Eye #3: Dreams True and False

from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on November 09, 2009
Duration: 0
Explores dream types in Ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt (divine kingship dreams), dreams in the Old Testament and dreams in the Early Christian Period. Divinely inspired dreams became decidedly more complicated in the Early Christian period (and thereafter), since it was difficult to tell whether a given dream was sent by God (in which case it was true) or by the devil (in which case it was false). The program also touches upon the writings of the prolific Aelius Aristides, whose accounts of his attempts to dream cures to his afflictions remains a primary source of information on incubation practices.
