Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed If you have a blog, you have a theme. Chances are, you downloaded a theme off the web somewhere. It s okay that you don t know how to code your own customized theme from scratch! Very few people are capable of doing this. You want your blog to say YOU , but you don t want to pay a designer a ton of money to accomplish this. It s a good thing Artisteer now makes it simple for you to create and customize your own WordPress theme with just a few clicks of the mouse. Everything and anything you can think of that you might want to tweak in your layout can be done easily with Artisteer in just a few seconds. You don t have to try to learn HTML or even CSS. All you have to be able to do is click your mouse buttons, and decide what look is right for you. Move your gadgets to a different side. Change up your text with different colors and fonts. Heck, change the header or background image while you re at it. Don t like what you re seeing? Psh! Just click a button and start completely over. It really is that easy. Best of all, Artisteer doesn t only work on WordPress. Create designs for web pages, Blogger Blogs, or make professional Joomla! and Drupal templates. Artisteer is probably my favorite new discovery in a long time. I m having so much fun that I ve now created probably 30 different themes, just by playing around. The only limitation to this program is your own imagination. So get creative! Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum? What is an Eye-Fi?
from The Chris Pirillo Show on November 17, 2009

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed I used a digital camera to take a photo of the chat room, and then had it automatically transferred to my Flickr account. I could just as easily send it to my Facebook page, or any other account that is supported by the Eye-Fi. The picture was transferred wirelessly over my home network from the camera directly to my desktop and then right to my Flickr! Using the Eye-Fi SD card, it is a snap to upload photos without having to go through several different steps. The Eye-Fi comes with a handy little reader, since you may not have an SD card reader. The camera itself doesn t do the transfer, in case you haven t figured it out. It s the Eye-Fi SDHC card doing all of the work. It s automagic! How often do you forget to download photos from your camera? Actually, a more likely scenario is that you just haven t made the time to do it. If you have several pictures stored on there, it can take quite awhile for you to download them to your computer, upload them somewhere like Flickr, tag them and finally have them ready for the World to view. Using the Eye-Fi takes almost all of those steps out of the process, saving you time and headaches! The Eye-Fi SDHC card has up to 4GB of storage, so you don t have to worry about not having enough room for everything. One of the coolest things is that it provides an automatic backup of your memories by organizing them according to date on your computer for you! Don t we wish more gadgets or programs would do this for us? Life sure would be easier! I m willing to bet you want one of these now for yourself, don t you? Well here s your chance! Twelve of you are going to win one of these awesome little cards!! All you have to do is sign into Twitter, and tweet the following: Hey @ChrisPirillo I d like to win a free #eye-fi via http://go.tagjag.com/eyefi4me Yes, that s all there is to it! Twelve people will be randomly selected to win, so get those tweets sent out in a hurry! I already love my Eye-Fi. It s made my photo experience a thousand times better than it used to be. I think I need a few more of these! Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum? How to Convert Cassettes to MP3

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed One of the first pieces of hardware I ever remember lusting after was a cassette player. I was pretty young back then, and a cassette player was innovative! As I got a little older, making mix tapes for girls you liked was all the rage. I enjoyed being able to record things, and play them back. These days, we take audio and video recording for granted. Back then it was really high tech stuff! I still have several of my old cassettes. I want to start archiving those memories into MP3 format, so that I can save them. There s a few different ways that you can accomplish this, using various pieces of hardware. The folks at ThinkGeeksent me something that will help me do this easily the ION USB Cassette Deck. It works with either Windows or Mac OS X, and comes with its own software. I have to warn you, though. Even though the hardware is an excellent device, I don t recommend using the software. It s not so great. It s a dual cassette deck of sorts. You can dub from one deck to another. Or, I can use a USB connection and play it back on my computer and record it from there if I wish. I recommend downloading the free version of Audacity in order to record and edit your audio files. Pop open the cassette deck and throw your tape in. I still have the first cassette I ever purchased Twisted Sister. Tell me you remember the song We re Not Gonna Take It . It s a classic that s still played often today! Hey I loved them back in the day. What s wrong with liking the song now?! The ION features LED Audio Level Indicators to let you know when it detects music on one side or the other. The A deck is for cassette playback only. The B deck can be used to play and record. Copy your music from one cassette to another at regular OR high-speed. There are several nifty little add-ons for all of you cassette junkies! I do like this gadget, and will be using it quite a bit. I am having a great time going down memory lane and putting faces, names and memories with each song on the tapes. What s the first piece of hardware you remember lusting after? Daytona International Speedway Daytona is the home of one of the most-loved race tracks in the country. It s a super speedway, which means it s a much larger and faster track than most. It s also where racing legend Dale Earnhardt died during the last lap of the Daytona 500 in February of 2001. Bucca di Beppo This is one of the best Italian restaurants on the face of the planet. There are locations spread around the country, but you ll find one right in Daytona Beach, as well. Ponce de Leon Lighthouse Completed in 1887, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station was built when the area was known as Mosquito Inlet. After decades of restoration by the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, it stands today as one of the best preserved, most complete Light Stations in the nation. Congo River Mini Golf Travel to a world of excitement from high atop giant waterfalls and rocky summits to the depths of mysterious caves, Congo River Golf delivers the best in family fun! Jacksonville Zoo Escape to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for the only walking safari in Northeast Florida. Discover the earth s wildlife through interactive and educational experiences. Veterans Memorial Park Visit the beautiful wall, dedicated to the Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It s a somber place, and one that will make you want to just sit and reflect quietly. A moment of silence is always called for here. Atlantic Beach Atlantic Beach is another awesome place to visit, filled with activities for young and old. Cheer your Favorite Team Florida is home to many professional sports teams, including the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (just to name three!). How to Surf
from The Chris Pirillo Show on November 14, 2009

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed Most of you know that I am an experienced surfer. I ve been at it since about 1994, through various platforms and browsers. Yes, I m an Internet surfer! I ve never gotten on a physical surfboard, or been on one in the water. However, I did get my own custom surfboard today, courtesy of LeapFish! How cool is this thing?! The folks at LeapFish just recently re-launched their site, dedicated to bringing you a single, connected, multi-media experience for both searching and sharing traditional and real-time content. Of course, since I am talking about surfing, I headed over to LeapFish to do a real-time search to attempt to learn something about it. The first thing I noticed was how amazingly well the results are laid out. Instead of one large and continuous listing of mish-mashed results everything is broken down into categories right there in front of me. I don t have to fumble around and click to the video tab, or the shopping tab. It s all there. So I m seeing news and wiki results first that s cool. But I think I want something a bit different. Scrolling down, there are video results next wait. What the heck is this? Twitter results in my search engine?! There s blog results, too! Yes, you read that right. No, I didn t typo it or dream it up. LeapFish not only gives you results based on current news stories and dry articles. You ll also find real-time results based on Twitter and the millions of blogs across the Internet. We already know that those are two of the best, fastest and most reliable ways to get information. Now we can actually find what we need, simply by starting on LeapFish. There are still tabs across the top of the page, like you are probably used to from other search engines. These tabs can help you narrow down the types of results you ll see. Do you want only video? Great they have that. Need some pictures or something from Twitter and Digg? Yep they have that, as well! I honestly think you are going to need to try out LeapFish for yourself. Once you do, I think you re going to want to keep trying it day after day after day. Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed I hate having super-long USB cables when all I really need is one that s an inch or two long. It s such a waste of space, especially when I m traveling. Thank goodness the folks at ThinkGeek have the iStubz to charge my iPhone with! The iStubz is only 3 inches long, and I promise that those three inches will satisfy you! It works with any USB-compatible iPod or iPhone, and is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. You don t need cables strung all over Hell and half of Georgia. Using a nice short cable keeps things de-cluttered and organized. If you re interested in grabbing the iStubz for yourself or anything from ThinkGeek for that matter make sure you take advantage of the ThinkGeek coupons that I have for you. Ubuntu 9.10 Screencast
from The Chris Pirillo Show on November 10, 2009
Duration: 0
Duration: 0
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed I recently asked all of you to submit your screencasts to me for review. The best of the best will be chosen to be featured here, in my various channels and outlets. This provides content of a different perspective for our community, and gives you new exposure for your work! Duncan has submitted an excellect screencast, showing all of us the new Ubuntu 9.1 operating system. Before beginning an install, you should check the release notes for important information. Currently, the system requirements are 256MB of RAM, which means it should work on older systems. There are two ways to obtain Ubuntu 9.10. The first is to go to the downloads page. From there, you can download the release .iso and mount it onto a CD. The other way to obtain it is to visit the Ship It link, and have them mail a physical CD right to your door for free. However, it can take up to ten weeks to reach you. Once you have your CD, you ll find there are many options to use and/or install Ubuntu 9.10. You can live boot, and try it out without actually installing it. It s very useful for trying it out and deciding what you think. You can also copy the contents of the CD onto a USB drive, which is handy as well. The most common method of install is the Dual-Boot method in Windows. This involves shrinking your partition and installing Ubuntu onto the free space. Duncan personally chose to install his copy using VirtualBox to install Ubuntu 9.10 inside of a virtual machine. You can see that the new version looks quite a bit different than the older version. As it was installing, Duncan walked us through several different options as far as video selection, RAM allocations and the like. Once Ubuntu itself was installed, Duncan went in and installed the Virtual Box Tools. That allows him to do things like using the mouse more effectively. I definitely recommend you make use of the Tools if you re going to use a virtual machine. Duncan s screencast gives you an excellent look into the installation, use and customization for Ubuntu 9.10. Be sure to watch this video if you re even thinking about checking out this operating system! Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum?
