http://www.instablogs.com/ India hands terror evidence to Pakistan The second dossier from India to Pakistan which is likely it hand DNA sample of lone arrested terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab for verification by Pakistani authorities is a welcome move. Other than the fact that it will enable Pakistani authorities to match the sample with his father and establish his Pakistani identity the DNA sample is also accepted as evidence in the court of law. In fact the government should hand over the DNA samples of other nine terrorists too whose names and addresses are available with the authorities. Let the whole world know how they transmit terrorism to the world. V. Prabhakaran's bunker busted Sri Lankan army's latest feat of busting bunker belonging to the LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran has added another feather in the former's cap. He may have escaped meeting a brutal end at the hands of the army but then at least Sri Lankans may seek contentment in the fact that the rebel leader faces the biggest challenge of his life. Prabhakaran is a ruthless killer, outlawed around the world as a terrorist kingpin and wanted on charges of mass murder; the international community must help Sri Lanka in bringing this culprit to justice. Legalize Drugs Concerns about the bloody drug war being fought just across the Mexican border led to a short-lived resolution in El Paso Texas asking the federal government to consider legalizing drugs. Mayor John Cook vetoed the resolution hours after it was unanimously approved by the City Council. The nonbinding resolution suggested that legalizing drugs in the United States could help curb a volatile and bloody drug war that killed more than 1,600 in Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from El Paso, in 2008. Facebook solves burglary The latest incident involving the capture of a burglar by simply displaying the CCTV footage and pictures of him on the Face book shows that the new media has definitely come off age. Who could have imagined that the social networking sites could play such a useful role in catching the anti social elements? However this isn't the first time that Face book, the world's largest online social network has been used to crackdown on criminals. The episode will definitely help in containing crimes that are committed with impunity since most offenders got the opportunity to move out scot-free even in the absence of adequate means. http://www.instablogs.com/

http://www.instablogs.com/ LTTE crushed Mr. Rajapaksa s tough line on the Tamils, conduct of the war and this unparalleled victory has made him extremely popular in Sri Lanka. He can take satisfaction from the army s successes, which appear to have rectified years of incompetent campaigning against the Tigers, including many spectacular reversals. The victory comes after two and a half years of offensive much criticized abroad. The world may hold us responsible for human rights abuse and hundreds of disappearances but it should not forget that it is our sovereign right to protect our territorial integrity. This victory would at least ensure that the majority live in an environment of peace and security. Kenyan Media The Kenyan media now faces suppression after president Kibaki signed a law meant to gag press freedom. The media has mourned, the whole country has protested but president Kibaki is not moved. Even after immense petitions from all corners, not to append his signature to the newly amended Communication Act (2008), the head of state went ahead and signed the now destructive law. The law advocates for the closure of radio and TV stations that are seen to be critical of the government. "The president s move has caused confusion in the coalition government forcing the Prime minister s party to issue new threats over the running of government matters, saying the party could demand fresh agreement with the coalition partner. The cracks in the coalition arose from President Kibaki decision to sign into law the Bill seeking to control broadcasting content which the prime minister says were done without consultations. Veil made compulsory in Pakistan University The decision to impose veils while also denying any external pressure sounds disappointing because it violates basic human rights especially the rights of women. It becomes even more when done in the name Islam since takes pride in advocating basic human rights. Imposing veils on women is an open instance of policing male chauvinism and dictatorship against the opposite gender. We are going to expect such a decree from fundamentalist element but not at all from a government university. This alarming rule is also a sign of the increasing influence of fundamentalism that is hostile to women and treats them as object of male desire. Hopefully such injustice will not spread to other educational institutes of higher learning in the country. King Abdullah of Jordan organizes blood donation camp His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan started a blood donation camp last week in order to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This is the least contribution we can make for our brothers in Gaza King Abdullah stated. Adding that Jordanians feel that the ongoing ordeal of Palestinians people to who we are the closest nation. The campaign prepared three major branches in the city to receive donors in the city of Amman as well as four locations in other Jordanian cities. The professional associations council estimated that more than 700 Jordanians went to the various locations in Amman everyday to donate blood. Jordan s Hashemite organization society said that meanwhile more than 68 trucks were sent to Gaza with food, medical supplies and blood units. http://www.instablogs.com/

http://www.instablogs.com/ Pakistan given Mumbai evidence Until now Pakistan successfully evaded any action against the terror suspects operating form its soil on the pretext that India never shared the evidence with Pakistan. Now with the facts provided to them including "material from the interrogation of Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab" - the sole surviving gunman from the attacks, who is in Indian custody, Pakistani authorities must act immediately to dismantle the terrorist network. Pakistan must understand the terror groups operating from its soil pose a threat both to the international peace and security of the entire world and its own. Therefore instead of beating the war drums and rejecting the Indian accusations as mere speculation Pakistan must act fast to rein in terror groups. LTTE defeated Sri Lankans may rejoice their victory but this sense of elation will not last for very long. The government has already earned itself bad press by denying access to the media from war zone. The war has been marked by appalling human-rights abuses by both sides, including hundreds of disappearances and alleged murders of Tamil youths by government agents. The government has blocked aid agencies making efforts to bring relief. Sinhalese chauvinists have always bullied Tamils by denying them even the modest regional autonomy promised by the Sri Lankan constitution. The Tamils can never forget the atrocities perpetrated upon them by the Sri Lankans. Soon the Tamil resistance shall raise its head and achieve its dream of a Tamil homeland. Corruption in Afghanistan Afghanistan s democratically elected government under President Hamid Karzai to large scale corruption and misuse of power. Any government services come with bribe locally known as `shrini which means sweetener bribe manifests in many forms from the lowest person right to the top officers of the government are the recipients of the bribe. President Karzai s brother is also believed to be deeply involved in large scale corruption particularly heroin trade that goes unnoticed due to his blood relation with the top of the country. This corruption according to Afghans does not have a long history since the communist who ruled Afghanistan in the 1980 s and were honest than the Mujahedeen s of 1990 and the present setup. Complaints of corruption in the small and large things could be heard in Kabul. Common citizens are fast losing their confidence in the government of President Hamid Karzai which obviously is very bad news for the President since he intends to run for the second consecutive term for the office of the President of Afghanistan in April this year. Worlds.com sues NC Soft MMO giant, NC soft, has been accused of infringing on patents put in place by Worlds.com believes that NC Soft s products infringe on their System and Method for Enabling Users to Interact in a Virtual Space patent. Of all NC soft games the most notable ones guild wars, City of Heroes, City of Villains and tabula Rasa. In my opinion this is a bold move by a company that as just decided to come out of the wood work. I ask them one question. Why now, could it be agreed, no I think it is something else, possibly to prove a point that these big companies can t be challenged? A smart move on board for going after NC before even trying. With a win under the belt that will give them extra leverage when trying their luck against a multi billion dollar company, good luck. http://www.instablogs.com/

http://www.instablogs.com/ Caroline Kennedy next NY Senator! Heir to one of America s political dynasties Caroline Kennedy is keen to join Family business as New York Senator, once Hillary Rodham Clinton dons the role of Secretary of State next month. There can t be a better candidate from a New York perspective, but not all New Yorkers seem keen on the idea primarily due to her lack of political experience. She is someone who has no knowledge or interest in money and underlying economic questions facing the state, especially when both city and state face multi billion dollar deficits. Caroline daughter of 35th US President John F. Kennedy has been around politics all of her life and has built-in appeal and name recognition, but being a candidate is a different ball game. No doubt she has a steep learning curve to climb. Only time will tell, whether her seemingly gentle presence can survive New York s brutal political culture. RSS, VHP and Hindu Tamils Sri Lankan government must take serious note of radical Hindu groups from India declaring support to Hindu Tamils after an Indian Tamil MP alleged attacks by security forces on Hindu temples in the island. We can never allow such groups to meddle in our internal affairs given the huge social, economic, human cost paid by us to preserve our integrity. Other than launching an Inquiry into alleged incident the country s constitution should also recognize the different ethnic, religious and cultural identities of Sri Lanka. They could be Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim. This recognition will erase sense of insecurity and help minorities invest faith in establishment s ability to protect their identity. It must, however, be noted that no one should grudge the predominant place allocated to Buddhism on account of its unique contribution to Sri Lankan civilization. Afghan women burning Among hundreds of different kinds of problems Afghan women face one more serious problem is the burning of women where over 5000 people report with burn injuries in the hospitals a large portion of them are women who suffer the most. According to the Minister of Health Mohammad Amin Fatami different reasons including economics, social and illicit practices responsible for such cases. Mr. Fatami agrees that in certain cases due to family honor or cruelty inflicted on them the suffering women have no choice but to burn themselves in an effort to commit suicide. Such practices are more frequent such as in the western province of Herat. After the fall of fundamentalist Taliban regime the women groups watchdog were triumphant that now time has come for liberation of Afghan women who suffer under different regimes in different contexts. Unfortunately same religious fanatics are ruling under new names in different parts of the country. http://www.instablogs.com/
