The biggest media news this week came last night when it was announced that Lou Dobbs would be leaving his CNN program. Yet there were plenty of other questions to ask this week about news coverage, from health care and the Stupak amendment to the Fort Hood shootings and the newest, scariest unemployment numbers, and Jon Stewart can't be the only one critiquing the major media outlets. Every Thursday, we look at the way the stories of the day get told, point out the problems and offer some solutions with a variety of media makers. Rose Aguilar, of Your Call Radio and author of Red Highways: A Liberal's Journey Into the Heartland , John R. MacArthur, president and publisher of Harper's Magazine and author of You Can't Be President: The Outrageous Barriers to Democracy in America , Dan Gross, columnist at Newsweek and author of Dumb Money: How Our Greatest Financial Minds Bankrupted the Nation , and Hendrik Hertzberg of The New Yorker and author of ?OB?MANOS!: The Rise of a New Political Era look at the media's biggest hits and misses of the past week.

Shot Fired Into Home of Lou Dobbs of CNN!

Pro-Illegal alien Amnesty supporting groups have been spreading lies about Lou Dobbs of CNN, trying to get him fired to censor his free speech, and foment hatred towards him because he stands against illegal immigration and Amnesty. Now, those lies and hatred have manifested in gunfire into the home of Lou Dobbs near his Hispanic wife! The Southern Poverty Law Center, the Anti Defamation League, the National Council of La Raza, Media Matters, and Geraldo Rivera of Fox News are using false information to foment hatred towards Lou Dobbs or any American who speaks out against Amnesty or illegal immigration. They could not get CNN to fire Lou Dobbs, so now their buddies in the drug and illegal alien importing gangs are likely stepping up. Lou Dobbs is an American hero who is speaking out on behalf of all Americans who oppose illegal immigration and Amnesty for illegals. We as a nation need to unify and rebuke the radical groups and activists that have put Lou Dobbs and his Hispanic wife's lives in danger by spreading lies and hate against an honest man who cares deeply about his nation. For more information about how you can join the fight against illegal immigration and Amnesty for illegals visit http://www.alipac.us PLEASE SEND THIS VIDEO TO EVERYONE YOU CAN, MAKE SUPPORTIVE COMMENTS, ADD IT TO YOUR FAVORITES, AND SPEAK OUT AMERICA WHILE YOU STILL CAN !!!

Once again, the mainstream media missed the boat on quite a few issues this week, though CNN did realize that Latinos deserve some attention. While still airing Lou Dobbs, though, it's hard for us to take them seriously with their attempts to reach out, and they missed such major stories as a general strike in Puerto Rico, attempts to fearmonger around the census, and the continued standoff in Honduras.Joining us to discuss these issues and more are Roberto Lovato of Presente.org and New America Media, Erica Gonzalez of El Diario/La Prensa, and Cathy Areu of Catalina magazine and the Washington Post magazine.Rana Husseini has been covering "honor killings" in her native Jordan and across the world for years, and has become one of the world's most respected voices on the subject. Her aim is to at least give them the right to be reported, that they died," and her new book, Murder in the Name of Honor , gives voice to many of these women. Husseini speaks to Laura about her experience working on the book and offers suggestions for what activists can do to help.In Puerto Rico last week, over 100,000 citizens marched in protest of Republican governor Luis Fortu o's job cuts. Fortu o threatened to charge protesters with terrorism, but is now backing off. SEIU sent us video urging action in Congress, keeping the pressure on Fortu o to do right by Puerto Ricans. This week's Got Docs feature is The End of Poverty? The film gives a deeper perspective on what really causes global poverty, and the role of our financial system in keeping people around the world struggling to survive. We also have video from Kate Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders, and the Huffington Post Investigative Fund. Thanks for watching!

Even Geraldo Rivera thinks Lou Dobbs is an embarrassment to journalism. That's pretty impressive. Dobbs has built a reputation by bloviating against so-called "illegal aliens," praising vigilante groups like the Minutemen and even declaring that Mexico is now the enemy. Yet CNN appears to think that by broadcasting a special on "Latinos in America," it can make up for the fact that it gives Dobbs a platform to pontificate against immigrants. Well, the Basta Dobbs campaign isn't buying it, and we aren't either. Check out their video with our own Laura Flanders, and then take action!
