Led Zeppelin - Ramble On
from YouTube :: Tag // newyork July 02, 2008
Led Zeppelin - Ramble On Copyright - 1969 Atlantic Records "Ramble On" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin from their 1969 album Led Zeppelin II. It was co-written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and was recorded in 1969 at Juggy Sound Studio, New York, during the band's second concert tour of the United States The song's lyrics were heavily influenced by The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The opening line ("Leaves are falling all around") is probably a paraphrase of the opening line of Tolkien's poem "Namárië". The poem may also be the inspiration for the entire first verse. The Tolkien references later in the song refer to the adventures of either Frodo Baggins as he travels to Mordor or Aragorn as he has to choose between staying with his love Arwen (Elrond's daughter) or going to retrieve the Ring in Mordor: " Mine's a tale that can't be told, My freedom I hold dear; How years ago in days of old When magic filled the air, T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor I met a girl so fair. But Gollum, and the evil one crept up And slipped away with her. " Plant later admitted in an audio documentary that he was embarrassed by the Tolkien references. References to the work of Tolkien also exist in other Led Zeppelin songs, such as "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp", "The Battle of Evermore" and "Misty Mountain Hop". The guitar's jangly introduction employs a classic Jimmy Page technique: using regular open chords superimposed higher on the fretboard. Often mistaken for bongos, drummer John Bonham is actually hitting a plastic rubbish bin throughout the song. The song also serves as a classic illustration of the tight interplay between bassist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham. Jones' light, melodic bass phrases give way to a clever ascending motif which follows Bonham's bass drum. Until 2007 "Ramble On" was never performed live in its entirety at Led Zeppelin concerts. However, part of the song was performed by the band in the middle of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" at a concert at Toronto on November 2, 1969, as can be heard on the Led Zeppelin bootleg Listen to my Bluebird. The full version of the song was played at Led Zeppelin's reunion show on December 10, 2007, at the O2 Arena in London. A cover version of the song was recorded by Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, and released on his 1997 album In the Name of My Father - The Zepset. The group Train, whose lead singer was previously in a band which did entire sets of Led Zeppelin songs, also covered "Ramble On". Producer Brendan O'Brien heard Train's version and agreed to produce their second album. The song was also sampled by the Insane Clown Posse for the song "50 Bucks" on their rare album Psychopathics From Outer Space, and was also the single that accompanied The Pendulum #7, a 12-comic series of the group done by Chaos! Comics. In 2004, the song was ranked #433 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Lyrics: Leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way. Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay. But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way. For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way. Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do... *Ramble On, And now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song. I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way. I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On, Gotta find the queen of all my dreams. Got no time to for spreadin' roots, The time has come to be gone. And to' our health we drank a thousand times, it's time to Ramble On. * Chorus Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear. How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air. T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair. But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah. * Chorus Gonna ramble on, sing my song. Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby... Gonna work my way, round the world. I can't stop this feelin' in my heart Gotta keep searchin' for my baby. I can't find my bluebird! Two Of A Kind Episode 36 part 1
from YouTube :: Tag // voice June 30, 2008
[Bailey had gotten back from her jog, and after showering, she was on the couch watching TV, and when Frankie ccame down, she asked:] Bailey: Hey Frank, want to watch something with me? Frankie: [Shook his head] I'm good, I'm just going to go outside. Bailey: Uhh... okay. [She went into the kitchen and grabbed her cell phone off the charger. She flipped it open, and she had 17 new messages. She scrolled through her inbox, 13 of which were from Joe, 2 from Nick and 2 from Kevin. She read Nick's texts after deleting all of Joe's texts] Nick's first Text: Hey, what's up with Joe? He's seemin' a bit down today. Nick's second text: Call me when you can, alright? We can talk. [Bailey nodded to herself, and kept in mind to call him. She looked at Kevin's texts] Kevin's first Text: Bailey, it's Joe. I know you wouldn't read my texts that I sent, but I'm taking a chance to see if you'll read this one. Since you already started, I might as well go on. [Bailey rolled her eyes, but kept reading] Bailey, you misunderstood when I was talking about Alex. She's like me best friend/little sister, and I never heard the rule that I couldn't talk about her from the big bro perspective. She's fairly cute, yes, but her beauty couldn't compare to yours. And what I meant by "Frankie's got good taste", I meant that considering how Nick and Alex are so happy together, she must be a girl worth liking. But guess what? I like you more. No, scratch that. I love you. More than anything. [Bailey was touched by what he had said, but she didn't think she could even talk to Joe, she was worried at what he'd say. She read "Kevin's" second text] Kevin's Second Text: Bailey? That last text was from Joe, I'm serious, right now this is Kevin. Please talk to him at least, he's pretty torn up right now. And a sad Joe is an annoying Joe. We haven't had an annoying Joe since he ever got together with you, because he's always been happy with you. [Bailey's eyes filled with tears, but she blinked rapidly to avoid them falling. Bailey when through her contacts and looked for Nick. Once she found him she clicked the "send" button] Nick: Hello? Bailey: Hey I got your texts. Nick: I see. Hold on a sec. [He moved the phone away from his mouth but Bailey could still hear him] No, Joe. You can try to call her later I'm gonna talk to her right now...Yes I know she doesn't answer when you call...Tough cumquats...A lot of people say that...Maybe not the people you know...Yes, I could name five people...Me, me, me, me, and me...I don't care...Go away! [He came back on the phone] Sorry, back. What's up? How've you been? Bailey: I've been good. [She said to cover up how she really was, which was not good] You? Nick: Me too. So, how have you really been? [He could tell by her voice that she was lying] Bailey: Nick, really I'm fine. Nick: I can't believe you. I can tell by your voice that you're not fine. Bailey: Fine, I'm not completely better yet. But with a few more days or long times [She was confused at what she just said], fine will be right around the corner. Ok? Nick: It'll do, for now. So what have you guys, sorry girls, been doing? Bailey: This and that. You guys? Nick: Concert, sleep, eat, pee... Bailey: Ew. [She giggled] Nick: What? Bailey: I don't need to know about your bathroom goings. Nick: That makes no sense! [He laughed, then she laughed, and they were both laughing] Bailey: [Tried to catch her breath once she did she asked] So what else have you guys been doing? How's Kevin without Jamie? Nick: [Stopped laughing and tried to sound serious] I think you should really ask, how's Joe without you? Bailey: I don't want to think about that. Nick: Bailey, he really misses you. Like, he finished Pride and Prejudice and now he's reading About A Boy. Bailey: Why does he need to read About A Boy if he is one? Nick: The point is he has a lot of time on his hands. He used to either text you or call you now all he does is- [He got cut off by Bailey] Bailey: I don't want to think about him, or hear about him right now. I wanna focus on you. Nick: Ok. So how's Frankie with his ice cream face? Bailey: [Giggled] He's good. Hold on I got another call. It's Kevin. Nick: But Kevin, Is right next to me an- [Bailey didn't hear because she had switched calls already] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part 2 up in a sec!
